The main event for the kickboxing end of the combined Bellator MMA/Glory hybrid fight card is set.
According to Bellator officials, Zack Mwekassa will square off with Saulo Cavalari for the vacant Glory light heavyweight championship on Sept. 19 at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif.
The bout is a rematch of the light heavyweight tournament finals held at Glory 18 last November in Oklahoma City, which Cavalari won via high-kick knockout in the third round.
Cavalari (29-3, 18 KOs), of Curitibia, Brazil, has since gone on to win a split decision over Artem Vakhitov at Glory 20 in April. He’s won five of his last six bouts.
Mwekassa (15-3, 14 KOs), of the Congo, rebounded from the loss with a first-round knockout over Carlos Brooks in June.
The Sept. 19 event in San Jose will feature both MMA and kickboxing, and have both a cage and a ring out on the arena floor. The main event on the MMA side is Tito Ortiz challenging Liam McGeary for the Bellator light heavyweight title.
