Anthony Smith blasts Jon Jones in a recent interview as the war of words between the two light heavyweight fighters continue. The belief is that he’ll fight the winner of the upcoming vacant light heavyweight title bout. This fight will be between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson in the main event of UFC 232.

Since then, Smith and Jones have exchanged words. This leads us to Smith talking about it in an interview where he pointed out the differences between them.

”I think that Jon is in a weird place now,” he said (H/T to MMAMania. I’ve won three fights in five months. Jon Jones has won three fights in five years. Like, what more do I have to do, you know?”

Smith continued by stating that he has been working hard while Jones hasn’t fought because he wasn’t eligible.

“I’m busting my ass, I’m in great entertaining fights, three finishes. Part of me is like ‘What are you even talking about? You don’t even really fight.’ Until just now, Jon Jones wasn’t even eligible!”

Anthony Smith Knows What Bothers Jones

The rising prospect believes the things that Jones gets bothered with is people asking him if he cheats.

”I think the things that bother Jon is when people ask me do I think he cheats? Yeah, I do. It’s failed drug tests,. How can you argue with that. He’s been suspended twice for PEDs. I’m not the only one talking about Jon Jones. It’s like I don’t know what his deal is but I don’t give a s**t.”

Smith was put in this spot once he beat former title contender Volkan Oezdemir by third-round rear-naked choke. This fight went down in the headliner of UFC Moncton at Moncton Coliseum in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. Smith made it known that he doesn’t have a problem with Jones. However, he’s not going to back down.

”I’m not out here to start s**t with anybody and I don’t have a problem with Jon Jones. I don’t know Jon Jones. But I can only speak to what we all know. I’ve never talked about him personally. That’s the route people go a lot with Jon.”

Finally, Smith says that he just wants to fight Jones even if the former UFC champion cheats for the fight.

“They want to talk about his personal life and all the trouble he’s been in. Again, I don’t give a s**t about that either. I just want to fight him and I think he cheats. Like, that’s it.”

Former light heavyweight title challenger Volkan Oezdemir is going to be sidelined for a while.

Oezdimer is coming off a submission loss to Anthony Smith at October 27’s UFC Fight Night 138rom Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. Not too long after the defeat, Oezdimer decided to have a procedure done on his knee that would help clear up existing damage.

He shared a pre-surgery update via Instagram, and the 29-year-old was surprisingly in good spirits.

Although he had a fantastic 2017, 2018 has been a bit of a setback for Oezdemir.

He started off the year by falling to champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 220. The current top pound-for-pound fighter in the world smothered and dominated him en route to a TKO finish.

Then he had to cancel fights with Alexander Gustafsson and Shogun Rua due to injuries. The surgery will seemingly end a bad year for the Swiss slugger.

DC Explains Why Anthony Smith Has ‘No Chance’ Against Him

UFC “Champ Champ” reveals the one reason Anthony “Lionheart” Smith has “no chance” against him in the Octagon.

Daniel Cormier is the UFC’s “Champ Champ,” but that will come to an end before the end of the year.

Cormier captured the UFC heavyweight championship this past summer with a knockout win over Stipe Miocic. He will defend his strap against Derrick Lewis in the main event of this weekend’s (Sat. November 3, 2018) UFC 230 pay-per-view (PPV). However, come December 29th he will be stripped of his 205-pound championship.

Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson will go one-on-one in the main event of UFC 232. The winner of the bout will be crowned the new light heavyweight champion, with Cormier being stripped once the fight begins. However, a new contender at 205 pounds has emerged.

Anthony “Lionheart” Smith picked up a big submission win over the weekend against former light heavyweight title challenger Volkan Oezdemir. One noticeable aspect of Smith’s performance, however, was how gassed he was after the third round, which he won. This was extremely evident to Cormier, who spoke to “The Ariel Helwani MMA Show” recently.

Cormier said that if Smith doesn’t improve his cardio, he has “no chance” against the likes of himself, Jon Jones, and Alexander Gustafsson (via Sherdog):

“He had to get carried out of the Octagon after three rounds?” Cormier said. “That’s crazy. If you get that tired, you have no chance against me. Honestly, if he fights Jones and he gets that tired, he is in trouble.

“You cannot get that tired. If I have any advice for Anthony Smith going forward; Jones, Gustafsson and myself, you have got to be pushing the cardio because we are going to be pushing the whole time.

“Gustafsson made me work for 25 minutes, Jon Jones made me work for 25, and then 15 minutes the last time we fought. You cannot be able to go 10 or 12 minutes and get that tired, you just can’t.

“He’s got to really get himself, get used to or better at going at a long fight. When you get to the top of 205, they are the best in the entire world regardless of weight class. You better be ready. He fought well against Volkan, but that type of performance will not get it done against any of us.”
