BRAVE CF returns this week with BRAVE CF 41 taking place tomorrow (Thur. September 17) inside the Bahrain National Stadium, Bahrain. The event will be the first of three consecutive shows in the Gulf State of Bahrain, with BRAVE CF 42 and BRAVE CF 43 scheduled to occur on September 24 and October 1.

Headlining this week’s event is a middleweight title clash with reigning champion Daniel ‘Gaucho’ Pereira facing off against Mohammad Fakhreddine. Gaucho will be making the first defense of his title after stopping South Africa’s Chad Hanekom last December. The heavy-hitting Brazilian will have his hands full in Fakhreddine. The Lebanese athlete is an aggressive fighter who has only gone the distance twice in his career. At 36-years-of-age this could be the last time Fakhreddine has shot at the title, so expect to see fireworks in the opening round.

The co-main event will feature an all-Russian middleweight clash between Denis Tiuliulin and Ikram Aliskerov. This bout will be Aliskerov’s first fight back since a devastating KO loss to Khamzat Chimaev in August of 2019. The 27-year-old, who was undefeated at the time, was regarded as one of the promotions rising stars, and there will be a lot of interest in how he performs on return.

Ireland’s Cian Cowley will also be under pressure to get a win under his belt when he meets Egypt’s Ahmed Amir in a super lightweight clash. The SBG fighter started his BRAVE CF career in 2018 with back to back victories. However, since then, he has gone on a run of three straight losses. This will be his debut at super lightweight, and it will be interesting to see if the change makes any difference to his fortune.

The night’s opening bout will be an amateur bout featuring the highly touted Bahrain prospect Abdulla Alyaqoob. The KHK MMA fighter is trained by the BRAVE CF super lightweight champion Eldar Eldarov and will take on Tajikistan’s Umed Urfonov.

The seven bout card kicks off at 11:00 am (EST) and can be watched by US fans on Fite or the Fight Network.

Full Card:

  • Middleweight title – Daniel Pereira vs Mohammad Fakhreddine
  • Middleweight – Denis Tiuliulin vs Ikram Aliskerov
  • Lightweight – Felipe Silva vs Sam Patterson
  • Super Lightweight – Cian Cowley vs Ahmed Amir
  • Flyweight – John Cris Corton vs Magomed Idrisov
  • Catchweight 63 kg – Rahmatullah Yousufzai vs Abdulmanap Magomedov

Exclusive: Enrico Cortese ‘Honored’ To Headline BRAVE CF 35

Enrico “The Killing Machine” Cortese is not only looking to make waves in BRAVE CF’s middleweight division; he is also aiming to spearhead MMA’s growth in his native Italy. Enrico “The Killing Machine” Cortese is not only looking to make waves in BRAVE CF’s middleweight division; he is also aiming to spearhead MMA’s growth in his native Italy.

The 22-year-old returns to the cage this week when he headlines BRAVE CF 35 against Romania’s Claudiu Alexe in Bucharest, Romania on Mon. July 20. BRAVE CF 35 will be the first of five consecutive shows that the Bahrain-promotion will hold in Europe, and for Cortese, the chance to main-event the company’s return is a privilege.

“The fact that I am competing in the main event at this BRAVE CF card is an absolute honor. It shows that work pays off as well because I have been working and training hard my whole life, and the opportunity that BRAVE has given me to show my skills on a headline fight of a card is great,” Cortese says speaking to LowKickMMA through a translator.

“On the other hand, I think on a personal level on how I approach this fight, it feels like any other fight, as I feel like every fight for every athlete should be a main-event. Every fight has the same importance for me. From the first fight of my career to my last fight, I will fight like it’s a main-event.”

After making a successful promotional debut last November at BRVAE CF 30, Cortese has had to be patient while waiting for a follow-up outing. He was initially scheduled to face former BRAVE CF middleweight title challenger Chad Hanekeom in April until the outbreak of Covid-19 put a stop to those plans. Then, when BRAVE CF started up its engine again, he was paired with Lebanon’s Mohammad Fakhreddine for the main event of BRAVE CF 35.

However, Fakhreddine was unable to secure a flight to Romania, forcing the company into a last-minute scramble to locate an opponent for Cortese. While he did not welcome the stress of not knowing whether he was going to fight or not, the Vicenza-native sees these challenges as part of the business of being a professional athlete. All that matters now is that he has a ready and willing opponent.

” I thank BRAVE CF so much for the opportunity they have given me because they have never seen a fighter as hungry as me for a fight. I really want to fight and be here I will take on anyone in the division. “

Italian MMA is still in the early stages of development, but Cortese is optimistic about its future in Italy.

“The Italian movement is growing and moving slowly; there are a lot of fighters trying to push there way in Italy.”

Cortese came to MMA after spending 15 years practicing Sanda. He is a huge proponent of the martial art, which was developed by the Chinese military. However, while Sanda has a special place in his heart, Cortese also sees himself as part of the ‘new generation’ of MMA fighters. Fighters who are equally adept grappling as they are striking. The Italian is only at the start of his career, but when talking, his passion for MMA shines through clear as day.

” I love this, and it’s giving me a beautiful journey in life,” Cortese explains.

“Obviously, I do it to win; my goal is to win and be the best, but even a world champion can lose. I like to keep my feet stuck to the ground and keep walking my road step by step, and I really hope my road is going to be a long road in MMA. I am fighting on this road to stay, and I think you are going to see me here for a long time. “

It is a statement similar to one that many young fighters make when entering the sport, yet in Cortese’s case, he says it with such intensity that you cannot help but want to see how his story unfolds.

BRAVE CF has announced that it will hold an eight-man flyweight tournament as it looks to crown its inaugural flyweight champion.

The company has previously tried to crown a champion, but weight misses and fighter pull-outs have meant that the belt has yet to find a home.

While there has been no set date as to when the tournament will kick-off, the four quarterfinal pairings have been released. The fighters contesting the tournament include former Bellator Bantamweight Champion Zach Makovsky, former ACB Flyweight Champion Velimurad Alkhasov Makovsky, and ex-UFC fighters Jose Torres and Dustin Ortiz.

It is an exciting lineup, especially when you add in veteran names like Sean Santella. So, provided everyone stays injury-free, it should be an entertaining introduction for new fans to the BRAVE CF flyweight division.

After an enforced break due to the ongoing pandemic, BRAVE CF returns next week when BRAVE CF 35 goes down in Bucharest, Romania, on Mon. July 7 (US Time).

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was not the only Englishman who finished last week with a comprehensive victory.

While Carl Booth may have been a long way from home, the English welterweight looked remarkably relaxed as he comfortably outpointed USA’s Hayder Hassan in their main event clash at BRAVE CF 32 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The Nottingham born fighter out-struck his opponent throughout their three-round encounter, with Hassan, who had his nose broken in the opening frame, unable to establish his attacking rhythm. Booth’s movement, distant management and varied striking, made it a tough night at the office for the American, who was making his promotional debut.

Booth’s win has pole-vaulted into him title contention. In his post-fight interview, Booth made it clear he is targeting the BRAVE Welterweight World Championship, currently held by Jordan’s Jarrah Al-Selawe.

” London baby, let’s do it in London, man. Let’s do it in England. Let’s have a fight, me on my turf, and I will rip that belt off him,” Booth said.

The pair have a history which dates back to 2014. Booth drew first blood in their opening encounter, stopping Al-Selawe with less than minute gone on the clock of their initial clash. When the two next met in 2017, it was the Jordanian who left the cage the victor, winning via unanimous decision. Both bouts took place in the Middle East.

Regardless of where the fight takes place, a rubber bout between these two would be a must-see for BRAVE fans.

BRAVE CF’s final show of 2019, BRAVE 33, has officially been handed its main event. Russia’s Ikram Aliskerov will square off against Sweden’s Diego Gonzalez in a middleweight clash on Friday, 27 December. The event is set to take place inside the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Aliskerov made his promotional debut in 2017 at BRAVE 6. The powerful Russian quickly earned a reputation as one to watch after racking up five-straight wins under the BRAVE banner. However, Aliskerov’s winning streak came to a shuddering halt after he was brutally knocked out by Sweden’s Khamzat Chimaev when the pair meet in a welterweight contest at BRAVE 23.

After taking time off to regroup, the 27 year-old Aliskerov has decided to return to the division that has brought him the most success.

Last Saturday, at BRAVE 32 BRAVE crowned its inaugural middleweight champion after Brazil’s Daniel Souza captured the title in South Africa. The race is now on to see who can stake their claim for a shot at BRAVE’s newly crowned middleweight king. Both Aliskerov and Gonzalez will see this fight as a the perfect opportunity to put themselves forward as a future title contender.

This fight will be Gonzalez’s BRAVE debut. The 35 year-old is an MMA veteran who has spent years competing on the European circuit. The Swede trains out of AllStars Training Center, rubbing shoulder alongside such talents as Alexander Gustafsson and Jimi Manuwa.

Gonzalez’s main strength in his grappling; in this regard, he is similar to Aliskerov. However, Aliskerov will carry a striking advantage into this bout, with thirty-eight percent of his wins coming via KO as opposed to just five percent for Gonzalez.

Aliskerov will come into this contest keen to remind everyone that despite his loss to Chimaev he is still one of the promotions top middleweights.
