Coming up this week on DraftKings is the 25K Haymaker Challenge. A $3 entry fee gets you into the $25K Haymaker (Total Prizes) with a$4,000 top prize,  is going to be open to the first 10K that sign up.

Now, if you are a avid follower of UFC/MMA, this will definitely give you an advantage over those whom are just putting down a few bucks for a chance. But rest assure, anyone can pick the correct five fighters, so it’s always worth taking a shot.

Here’s a quick synopsis on how this works, and its pretty simple. You’re given the fighters of all of the fights for that nights event to choose from. They’re all given a value and DraftKings gives you X amount to elect five fighters. Typically if Ronda Rousey is the headliner for said event, she’s going to cost you a pretty penny to put on your team. You’re then going to have to strategize your next 4 fighters to remain under the cap amount they gave you.

To be competitive in these large field tournaments you need to first understand the scoring system set-forth by DraftKings. Here is how it is broken down;

SIGN UP NOW > UFC Fight Night 75 Fantasy Contest

Scoring:

Significant Strikes (SS): +0.5 PTS
Advance (ADVC): +1 PT
Takedown (TD): +2 PTS

1st Round Win (1rW+): +100 PTS

4th Round Win (4rW+): +40 PTS
5th Round Win (5rW+): +40 PTS
Decision Win (WBD+) : +25 PTS

Other Scoring Notes:
Significant Strikes are any Distance Strike or Clinch/Ground Strikes that are considered “Power Strikes” by official scorers.

To Half Guard

To Mount
To Back Control

Also, please note that all fighters lock at the beginning of the first fight. **

The headliner in UFC Fight Night 75 is Roy Nelson taking on Josh Barnett. If there were a fight to be defined as a slug-fest, this is it. The big question is whether the fight is going to be on their feet (Advantage Nelson) or on the mat (Advantage Barnett). My prediction is that one of these fighters is going to score an ob obnoxious amount of points. Here are the two ways I see this fight playing out;

First, Barnett is going to want to heavily ground-and-pound Nelson, and with SS(Significant Strikes) along with the take down and ground points, he’ll be able to rack up from good fantasy points. Second, Nelson is just going to knock him out cold. He might to get a ton of points from all of the categories but if Barnett isn’t able to get Nelson to the ground, this fight might end quickly with Barnett not knowing what day it is.

My prediction is that Nelson is able to stay on his feet and land a decent amount of strikes, racking up at least 20 points through SS, 6 points coming from take-downs, and 70 points with a second-round knockout. I don’t think he reaches the 100-point barrier, but I wouldn’t be totally shocked if he did.

UFC Heavyweight Bout: Josh Barnett vs. Roy Nelson

Odds: ( -300 Barnett / +230 Nelson )

Betting Pick: Nelson

Coming to us from all the way across the Pacific Ocean in Satiama, Japan, is UFC Fight Night 75. The main event of the evening is a heavyweight bout between two of the baddest men to ever step inside the octagon , Josh Barnett and Roy Nelson. Both of these men have done some serious work inside the octagon throughout there careers, and I’d assume they have no plans to call it quits anytime soon. For heavyweights though, they sure do seem to have quite a different fighting styles. Nelson likes to brawl, period. Barnett is definitely the more tactical of the two fighters and one would think his strategy would be to take this fight to the mat. Las Vegas has Barnett the clear favorite in this fight putting him at -270, with Nelson sitting last the underdog at +225. I really don’t care what Vegas says to be honest, this is going to be one heck of a fight and everything id going to depend on position, let me explain;

Josh Barnett

Barnett brings a technical style to the octagon that Nelson just doesn’t possess(doesn’t like to*). He is going to lull you to the mat with his grappling skills and strength, then proceed to use his wrestling skills to finish you off. Lets be real though, this guy has some serious expenerecne that he brings to the table that really is only matched by the guy on the other side of the octagon. Second, his strength really isn’t something for anyone to test. Barnett is going to definitely want to get in close and grapple with Nelson because even with how tough Nelson is, I just don’t think he has the skills tomes with Barnett is that area. Last, are the wrestling skills. If this fight is taken too the ground consistently, it is tough for me to justify anyway that Nelson comes out a victor. Barnett is just too experienced not to win a fight when fighting the style that gives him a serious advantage.

Roy Nelson

Roy Nelson is going to be looking to brawl. Roy isn’t looking to do anything other than stand on his fight and exchange blows. With some of heaviest hands the UFC has ever seen, why would his game plan ever change. People have said, maybe he should get into shape, Roy said no thanks. Now, don’t get me wrong, Roy can grapple, and has been known to submit a guy here and there. He could surprise us with a possible take down but the only way I see that happening is if there is an absolute plan. If something were to go wrong with it, he’ll abort immediately. With that said, I don’t see him taking too many chance on Saturday. My advice for Roy would be to attack from a distance and brawl. He can win this fight on his feet, but I think it might be the only way.

Prediction

I see Nelson coming away with this one. I think he’s able to stay on his feet and brawl his way to a victory. I see it coming in the second round after Nelson detracts Barnett take downs and lands a barrage of punches via second round stoppage.

Current UFC Fight Night 77 Odds – Coming to us LIVE from one of the most premier MMA locations on earth, UFC Fight Night 77 bring us to Sao Paulo, Brazil! At the top of the main card features one of the very few fights that ever make it to a trilogy ending. Vitor Belfort will square off for the third time against Dan Henderson. Since their last bout back in 2013 its almost shocking we are back in this position today. Henderson went 2-2 his first four fight post-Belfort and it looked like retirement was imminent. Belfort looked like one day he was going to take over the UFC world but also struggled to stay relevant. But here we are, back at the top of a main card and fighting to rejuvenate their careers. Vegas is thinking this fight is quite even with only barely giving the edge to Belfort at -310, which I know in other sports is quite handsome, but from what I’ve seen in the UFC this year, and Henderson sitting at +250, this will be one hell of a fight. Be sure to tune in Saturday, November 7 for UFC Fight Night 77.

Current UFC Fight Night 76 Betting Odds – UFC Fight Night 76 comes to us all the way from Dublin, Ireland. Dustin Poirier squares off against Joseph Duffy at the top of the main card with many other great fights in front of it. Duffy recently took down Ivan Jorge and fun fact, is the last person to beat the UFC poster-boy Connor McGregor. Duffy will also have a home field advantage being that he hails from Ireland. Dustin has won his last two fights and both have been in 2015. Dustin looks finely tuned and poised to climb his way back up in the ranks. Vegas has this fight leaning in the direction of Duffy at -240 with Poirier not too far behind at +190. The UFC has gained some serious footing in Ireland and the previous primetime UFC bouts in Ireland have not disappointed. Be sure not to miss UFC Fight Night 76!
