Welcome to this week’s edition of MMA News’ Top 10 Finishes of the week! Every week there’s highlight-reel finishes all across the MMA world, and we’ve found some of the absolute best ones to showcase.

Last week was a busy one, as the UFC debuted their series of Road to the UFC cards in the lead-up to UFC 275. Those four events had enough finishes to fill out a separate Top 10, but they ended up only being a warm-up for the weekend’s action. UFC 275 provided a number of impressive finishes and was arguably the best event of the year, but a pair of big knockouts from LFA and Cage Warriors also made the cut for this week’s list.

#10: Muin Gafurov Arrives In LFA

First up this week is the main event from LFA 134, where Muin Gafurov competed in his first bout since a split-decision loss on Contender Series 2021.

The 26-year-old proved he may well get another chance at the UFC after landing a right hand that turned Herbeth Sousa around as he landed on the mat.

#9: Chasen Blair’s Hometown Walk-Off

Cage Warriors 139 was held outdoors under the beautiful San Diego sunshine, and welterweight Chasen Blair made the most of the spotlight against Kona Oliveira.

The San Diego-born fighter sent his hometown crowd into a frenzy with a huge right hand off a clinch break that put Oliveira down and had Blair raising his arms in victory.

#8: Jeong Yeong Lee Grabs An Arm

The Road to the UFC cards provided a number of impressive finishes, including this submission from Jeong Yeong Lee in the featured bout of Road to the UFC 3.

Lee looked like he might put Contender Series veteran Bin Xie out with elbows while defending a takedown, but once he hit the ground the South Korean quickly locked up an armbar just over 30 seconds into the fight.

#7: Jack Della Madellana Goes To The Body

Jack Della Madellana looked in serious danger of being submitted by Ramazan Emeev before showcasing the striking that has made him one of the UFC’s hottest prospects.

The Australian caught Emeev swinging wildly and started to pour on volume, eventually landing a body shot that brought the Russian to his knees for Madallana’s second first-round stoppage in as many UFC bouts.

#6: Zhang Mingyang Beats The Odds

The very first bout of Road to the UFC featured some of the most lopsided betting odds of the series, which set the stage for Zhang Mingyang to kick things off with an upset.

The Chinese light heavyweight applied pressure to heavily-favored George Tokkos early, eventually landing a right hand and some vicious follow up shots to get the victory with just over a minute left in the first round.

#5: Silvana Gómez Juárez Gets Her First UFC Win

Silvana Gómez Juárez lost her first two UFC bouts via armbar, and a loss to Na Liang at UFC 275 could very well have ended her run with the promotion.

The 37-year-old strawweight rose to the occasion, rocking Liang with a right hand before landing a follow-up combination that had her opponent slumping to the canvas.

#4: Hayishaer Maheshate’s Explosive Debut

Of all the notable performances at UFC 275, the debut of 22-year-old Hayishaer Maheshate against Steve Garcia may have been the most impressive.

Maheshate landed a perfectly-timed counter shot that floored Garcia and gave Maheshate a moment to admire his work before jumping onto the cage to celebrate his first UFC win.

#3: Jeka Saragih Makes His Case To The UFC

Road to the UFC showcased a number of fighters hoping to make a lasting impression, and arguably no one did that more successfully than Jeka Saragih.

Not satisfied with what looked to be an impending decision win, the Indonesian lightweight dropped Pawan Maan Singh with a spinning back fist in the third round to make sure everyone remembered his performance.

#2: Ji?í Procházka Claims The Title

Are there more violent and technically impressive finishes ranked lower on this list? Absolutely. Did any of those fights carry the same stakes and end as dramatically as this one? Absolutely not.

After possibly the greatest fight in the history of the UFC’s light heavyweight division, challenger Ji?í Procházka handed Glover Teixiera the first submission loss of his career and won the light heavyweight title with less than 30 seconds left in the final round.

#1: Weili Zhang Sends Joanna Into Retirement

Even with two title fight headlining the card, the rematch between former strawweight champions Weili Zhang and Joanna J?drzejczyk was arguably the most anticipated fight at UFC 275.

After a whirlwind first round where both women seemed determined to top the action from their original fight, Zhang ended their rivalry with a spinning back fist that left J?drzejczyk facedown on the canvas.

What do you think of this week’s list? Are there any finishes you think should have made the cut that didn’t? What about ones you think should have been ranked higher or lower?

New UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Ji?í Procházka had words with Glover Teixeira, even while he was stuck in a vulnerable position.

The UFC 275 main event will go down as one of the greatest fights of all time and is without question on the shortlist of Fight of the Year frontrunners.

One of the reasons the fight was such an instant classic is because there was action from various positions, including on the mat. Going into the fight, the prevailing stylistic narrative was that it would be a grappler versus striker bout.

Though Procházka was able to ultimately cancel that narrative by picking up a stunning submission victory over Teixeira, the Brazilian was able to get off some effective ground-and-pound during the fight, at which point Procházka wanted to send a message to his opponent.

“Yeah, I talked with him,” Procházka revealed during the UFC 275 post-fight press conference. ” I said (to) him: ‘Very nice, very nice. But still nothing.’ I wanted to show him his ground and pound, he have no power to end me in that. But he have power enough to open me. [LAUGHS]

“That was very bad. That was very bad, and it was right after I started to smile (at) him. I started to smile, and then he opened my eyebrow. And I said (to) myself, ‘OK, it’s not time for fun anymore.’”

The fun and the talking are only just beginning for the Czech Republic, however, after now having its first UFC champion notched in the history books. There’s no doubt that Procházka will be all the rave nationwide after his monumental victory in the UFC 275 main event.

MMA News will keep you posted on what’s next for the new light heavyweight champion, so be sure to keep it locked right here for the latest updates!

“The Notorious” Conor McGregor has enthusiastically heaped praise onto new light heavyweight champion Ji?í Procházka.

At UFC 275, Ji?í Procházka became the first UFC champion from the Czech Republic in the history of the promotion. The landmark achievement did not come easy, as the samurai warrior was down on all three judges’ scorecards with less than a minute remaining until he stunned the world by submitting the credentialed grappler Glover Teixeira.

The fight was not short on action or drama, and the MMA world went into a frenzy at the shocking conclusion of the fight after already being chock full of adrenaline throughout the course of the rollercoaster title bout.

One man who felt the monumental victory was a cause for celebration was none other than former champ-champ Conor McGregor, who took to social media to shoutout his fellow Paradigm Sports member.

“Paradigm’s Sports NEWEST! And the Czech Republic’s FIRST! UFC World Champion! The indomitable samurai, @jiri_bjp! What a fight! What a performance! Huge congrats!”

Paradigm Sports is a management agency that, in addition to McGregor and Procházka, also hosts names like Israel Adesanya, Manny Pacquiao, Cris Cyborg, and last and most definitely least: Dillon Danis.

After a performance and victory as memorable as what Procházka turned in at UFC 275, the eccentricly charasimatic Procházka will no doubt have more eyes on him than ever before. But just in case he needed an extra nudge, the sport’s biggest superstar just helped shine a light on the new king of the 205.

Jiri Prochazka, Jan Blachowicz

Jiri Prochazka shared the conversation he had with Jan Blachowicz backstage.

This past Saturday, Jiri Prochazka became the new undisputed UFC Light Heavyweight champion when he dethroned Glover Teixeira at UFC 275. He rose to the occasion in the most dramatic way possible with less than 30 seconds left on the clock. In a close-fought battle that Teixeira seemed to be on top of, Prochazka managed to secure a win in the fifth round by submission (rear-naked choke).

Prochazka went into the fourth and fifth rounds for the first time. Prior to the title fight, he had never had a bout go past round three for over a decade since starting his professional career in 2012.

Jiri Prochazka reveals interaction with Jan Blachowicz

Former 205-lbs title holder Jan Blachowicz was in attendance at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. He was seen talking to the new king of the division after the fight for a shot at the gold.

In the post-fight press conference at UFC 275, Jiri Prochazka talked about the interaction he had with the top contender who’s likely to be his next opponent.

“It was little bit friendly, little bit aggressive,” Prochazka said. “After I said him yes, okay let’s go, you’re the next. He started to be aggressive like because he saw the cameras and all these things. I think he tried to flex a little bit.”

When a member of the press asked Prochazka if he blew Blachowicz a kiss based on the footage of the interaction online, ‘Denisa’ revealed the conversation he had with the former champion.

“I said (to) him, ‘I love you!’ because he was so aggressive, yeah,” Prochazka added. “First, he was smiling to me and everything, and it was good. After the fight it was aggressive, ‘I want to fight, I want to fight’ so I said, ‘I love you, Jan!’. Let’s talk in the cage like that.”

Do you think ‘BJP’ will be able to defend his belt against Blachowicz?

Dana White

UFC President Dana White is not just the boss but a real fan at heart. White reacted to Jiri Prochazka’s incredible submission victory over Glover Teixeira the same as everyone did inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium at UFC 275.

The light heavyweight title fight consisted of a remarkable back-and-forth war between two durable fighters who would not quit. Eventually, in the fifth, with thirty seconds remaining, Prochazka forced Teixeria to tap, allowing himself to become the first UFC champion from the Czech Republic, and almost guaranteed a place in the hall-of-fame books with the extraordinary bout.

White did not make the trip to Singapore for the event and remained in the U.S to celebrate in Miami for his son turning 21. Still, White watched the action unfold in a light heavyweight barnburner that won’t be forgotten.

“He tapped!” Dana White yelled in his Instagram live video. “No way! No f*cking way! Jiri f*cking tapped him out. No way. No way. What a f*cking fight. What an absolute f*cking war, man. Sh*t, my phone is f*cking blowing up.”

Watch Dana White React to UFC 275 Main Event

The monumental victory moved Prochazka to (29-3-1) in MMA and advanced his ongoing win streak to 13. It took the Czech Republic native just three fights inside the organization to attain UFC gold after finishing Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes in his first two outings.

Prochazka’s unique and tricky style will make him a hard man to dethrone. He showed his well-rounded skill-set, sheer toughness and will to never quit on himself. In his post-fight interview backstage, the 29-year-old welcomed the rematch with Texiera when asked what would be next but also was happy to stand across the Octagon from former light heavyweight champion Jan B?achowicz, who was in attendance.

If you were in Dana White’s position, who would you have face Prochazka next?

Glover Teixeira has released his first statement after dropping the UFC light heavyweight championship to Ji?í Procházka in the UFC 275 main event.

At UFC 275, Glover Teixeira and Ji?í Procházka took part in what may now be the current frontrunner for Fight of the Year in the main event of the evening. It was a back-and-forth and action-filled fight that was going Teixeira’s way with the scorecards in his favor as the fight winded down with less than a minute remaining.

Then suddenly, the wildman striker Ji?í Procházka shocked the world by submitting second-degree black belt and grappling legend Glover Teixeira.

Teixeira’s championship win last October at UFC 267 was viewed as one of the most inspirational moments in promotion history. At 42 years old, Teixeira was able to finally reach the summit of the UFC’s light heavyweight division after a grueling 19-year journey.

After the abrupt end to his widely celebrated title reign, Teixeira took to social media to issue the following statement. (via MMA Fighting)

“We got hit a little bit there, but I gave my best in this fight,” Teixeira said. “But the hand came in the neck, I was very tired, and I think I didn’t believe [in the submission]. I should have turned, but now it’s too late to cry over spilled milk. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

“I gave my best and it wasn’t enough, but let’s go for the next one. Thank you to all of you that root for me for the support. I’m fine, just a few cuts, but let’s go.”

It is unclear what the immediate future holds for Teixeira or the new champion Procházka. Teixeira has already floated the idea of a rematch after dropping the title, to which Procházka has already responded with a solemn vow.

Other possible names in title contention are Jan Blachowicz, Magomed Anakalaev, and Anthony Smith.

Teixeira had assured Blachowicz that he would receive a title shot if he were to retain the title over Procházka at UFC 275. Blachowicz returned to the win column with an injury-stoppage victory over Aleksandar Raki? in March. As for Ankalaev and Smith, they will compete next month at UFC 277.

Should the promotion go the direction of an immediate rematch, however, there probably won’t be too many fans moaning at having to “sit through” another Teixeira vs. Procházka encounter after the battle of the ages that transpired at UFC 275.

Do you believe Glover Teixeira will recapture the light heavyweight championship before he retires?
