Former UFC heavyweight champion Kevin Randleman returned to action after a one-year layoff Saturday and lost to Baga Agaev via first-round armbar submission in the main event of Mayor’s Cup in Russia.

Randleman suffered a dislocated elbow in loss, according to agent Ken Pavia, who accompanied the 39-year-old Randleman to the fight overseas and posted before and after x-rays pictures on Twitter.

Randleman (17-16), last seen fighting for Strikeforce one year ago in a loss to Roger Gracie via rear-naked choke submission, has now lost four in a row.

Danny Downes, Gerald Harris, Efrain Escudero and others also stepped inside the cage over the weekend. Check out some of the notable results below.

TOKYO – It had only half the fights of the originally planned event, was in a smaller venue, was sparsely attended and carried a somber mood, but MMA finally restarted in Tokyo on Friday night with Shooto: Shootor’s Legacy 02 at Shinjuku FACE.

Shooto’s second major event for the year was originally scheduled for March 12, the day after the magnitude 9.0 Tohoku earthquake and subsequent tsunami battered North East Japan, taking the lives of over 10,000 people with many more still missing and leaving hundreds of thousands homeless.

With fears of a nuclear meltdown still looming, MMA returning to Tokyo was a welcome distraction and a testament to Japan’s ability to rally and continue on with life despite significant hardship.

Japanese fighters have had a pretty good run in the States over the last month.

Takanori Gomi‘s stunning KO over Tyson Griffin, Yushin Okami‘s takedown defense clinic against Mark Munoz and former Shooto bantamweight and featherweight champion Mamoru Yamaguchi‘s first successful defense of his King of the Cage junior flyweight strap against Greg Guzman have lifted the spirits of a country that has been struggling for success over the past few years.

There is a still a long way to go though. Two of the most successful Japanese fighters in the UFC, Yushin Okami and Yoshihiro Akiyama, met with the press for the Japanese announcement of UFC Undisputed 2010 and gave their thoughts on what is needed to revive Japanese MMA.
