Michaella Tastad, the beautiful lanky 19 year old sister of Urijah Faber, suffered multiple serious injuries in a car accident in the early morning hours of Black Friday as she was returning home. The Sacramento Bee reports:

Michaella Tastad, 19, was driving home Friday with a friend at 3 a.m. when she rear-ended a vehicle slowing down near the site of a single-car accident, according to California Highway Patrol Officer David Martinez. A few minutes later, three more cars collided. Three people were taken to the hospital, but only Tastad incurred major injuries, Martinez said.

Among Michaella’s injuries were head trauma, a collapsed lung, and spleen damage.

According to the report, Urijah Faber explained, “part of [Michaella]‘s skull was removed and she underwent a second surgery to insert a shunt to help drain fluid.” Faber also stated, “the passenger in [Michaella]‘s car was treated and released from the hospital on Friday.”

Positive news came on Monday, as the doctors briefly brought Faber’s sister out of her medically induced coma.

“She gave a peace sign and wiggled her toes,” Faber said. “Then they put her back under. … We are done being scared and now it’s about having the recovery we all want.”
