Thanks very much to our partners in Thailand; Nick Chapman and Golf along with the Singha Corporation.”

Following the recent capture of Buakaw Banchamek to a multi-fight deal, BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) have bolstered their roster once again – this time inking a deal with decorated Thai striking sensation, the decorated, Saenchai.

As per an initial report from MMA Fighting reporter, Damon Martin, BKFC have signed Saenchai – who is regarded as one of the greatest Muay Thai strikers produced in Thailand, to a multi-fight deal, ahead of the latter’s transition to bare knuckle fighting.

“BKFC has signed another Muay Thai legend to the roster – this time its Saenchai, who holds a ridiculous 313-41-5 record during his career,” Martin tweeted. “He’ll now crossover to bare-knuckle competition alongside Buakaw, who also signed with BKFC just recently. @bareknucklefc.”

Last competing at the end of June, the Thai defeated Argentine striker, Alan Yauny with a unanimous decision win at THAI FIGHT Sisaket.

Also holding an undefeated professional boxing record, Saenchai competed six times as a professional in the squared circle, landing a 6-0 record with his most recent walk coming back in 2004.

An official date or opponent for Saenchai’s promotional debut with BKFC has to be determined by the organization

The southpaw striker has competed notably at the weight limits of flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight over the course of his decorated, and storied professional career.

With the capture of Saenchai, BKFC add the Thai striker to their roster which recently saw the inclusion of Saenchai’s compatriot, Buakaw – a two-time K-1 World MAX champion and also one of the most iconic fighters produced in Thailand.

Rafael Fiziev has revealed that Valentina Shevchenko refereed his first fight.

Tiger Muay Thai coach Rafael Fiziev will mark his return to competition against Rafael dos Anjos this Saturday at UFC on ESPN 39. The two were initially scheduled to face each other earlier in March but Fiziev was forced to pull out after contracting COVID. Renato “Moicano” Carneiro was found as the short-notice replacement for Dos Anjos, who dominated his way to victory.

Ahead of his clash with dos Anjos, Fiziev recounted an intriguing tale from the past.

Valentina Shevchenko refereed Fiziev’s first fight

In an appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Rafael Fiziev shared that he was twelve years old when he fought for the first time in Muay Thai against an opponent who was about 18 or 19.

He went on to reveal that fellow Kyrgyzstani and the current UFC women’s flyweight champion and pound-for-pound queen Valentina Shevchenko was the referee for that bout. “Valentina refereed this fight,” Fiziev said. “Yeah, she was the referee in my first fight. She’s a good referee, she put her fingers in my mouth when she tried to separate us.”

When asked why he thought she put her fingers in his mouth, Fiziev said, “I don’t know why. Because we fight like dogs maybe. I remember her finger in my mouth and she put it like (a fishhook). She had gloves.”

Rafael Fiziev argued striking techniques with Conor McGregor

“Ataman” has developed a reputation for his lethal striking abilities and holds a prolific standing as a coach at one of the most reputable gyms in Thailand. A video of Fiziev’s incredibly sharp defense displaying him dodging high kicks like he’s in The Matrix did rounds online.

When Conor McGregor stumbled upon the clip, he was far from pleased and suggested a counter move to demolish the technique. Fiziev responded quickly stating that McGregor was in a “fantasy world” and that his recommendation wouldn’t hold up in reality. He further extended an invitation to “Notorious” to train together with him.

The Irish superstar reiterated his stance and accepted the invitation for the next time he’s in Thailand. Although their argument appeared to be heated with a healthy bit of disrespect it seems like the two are simply stating their opinions without actual malice towards one another.

French Muay Thai champion gets mocked for tattoo error

The story was picked up by international media after Twitter had a field day ridiculing the French athlete, as noted by ASEAN NOW. People weighed in with their thoughts on a seemingly innocuous mistake.

One joked “Oh My Buddha!” with a shocked emoji face.

Reigning Middleweight Superkombat Champion Jimmy Vienot, proudly showed off the tattoo on his forearm with what he intended to say ‘Muay Thai’ or ‘Thai Boxing’. In Thai script, this is written ??? ??? but many online who can read the Thai language pointed out that the first letter was not ? (an M sound) but a similar ? – kh sound.

This would make the tattoo say “Khuay Thai”, which carries a much more negative meaning than the French Muay Thai champion was going for. It translates to penis alongside the word Thai, making it mean ‘Thai d*ck’.

Many Thais reported having looked twice at the first letter to confirm what they were reading as they expected it to have an M sound. While it may not have been his intention, it certainly looked a tad bit suspicious although the Thai word for ‘d*ck’ is usually spelled with a different ‘kh’ letter namely ?.

Thai media does not traditionally print the word as is and usually conforms to publishing it in the following manner: ?_?. While one can argue against the confusion or for it, there are elements that distort the meaning of the first letter such as the first loop being filled in.

French Muay Thai champion Vienot is also only the fourth non-Thai to win the Lumpinee Stadium title in 2019 according to a report on the story in the UK’s Mirror tabloid.

Do you think the tattoo means what the French Muay Thai champion wanted it to?
