Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez threw out the first pitch at last night’s Padres Major League Baseball game in San Diego, California. “El Nino” defended the STRIKEFORCE lightweight title at Saturday’s Diaz vs Daley event at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego. Melendez also celebrates his 29th birthday today.
Melendez attacked from the first second of the fight throwing power punches that repeatedly landed, damaging Kawajiri early and often. Following an onslaught of punches that dropped the Japanese challenger, Melendez unleashed a series of vicious elbows forcing the TKO in the first round of the championship fight.

Is in good health. Some u win, some u lose. A little frustrating, I made mistakes I told myself I wouldn’t do. A little to rushed. Think the stoppage was early, especially with so little time left in the round. Now some timw off, a few holidays and some downtime. See what’s next. Team Semtex all day.
