Sergio Salcido Luna was another fighter trying to earn his way into better opportunities through hard work. In addition to training, Luna, nicknamed “Suave” in his fight career, worked for a San Diego beverage company, and was apparently on his way to the job just prior to 3 am on Monday morning when a gunman at the San Ysidro border crossing near Tijuana, Mexico, opened fire, killing him along with passenger Kevin Joel Romero.
According to area news reports, Luna and Romero were riding in a late model Mazda B2500 pickup truck and waiting to cross the border into the U.S. when they were gunned down by an unknown assailant who shot them with a 9mm caliber gun.
