Conor McGregor Faces Backlash as Sexual Assault Ruling Sparks Calls to Ban His Brands

Retailers in Ireland are being urged to boycott Conor McGregor’s stout and whiskey brands after the UFC star was found liable for sexual assault.

Last week, a High Court jury ruled that McGregor had raped Nikita Hand at a Dublin hotel in 2018. McGregor, who has vehemently denied the accusations, was ordered to pay the victim more than $250,000 but has already instructed his legal team to appeal the decision and made multiple social media posts professing his innocence.

McGregor won’t face any criminal charges for his role in the alleged assault, but his financial portfolio could take a big hit if Cliona Saidlear — executive director of Rape Crisis Network Ireland — gets her wish.

“The companies making money from his alcohol and other products need to look at whether they want to align themselves with a man found by a civil jury to have sexually assaulted a woman Saidlear said in a statement. “They need to stop promoting him and distance themselves… €250,000 won’t dent his finances, but the public can play a role here in expressing disapproval for anyone that tries make money with a man who engaged in that despicable behavior” (h/t Irish Mirror).

Conor McGregor will be back in a Dublin high court next year over his proper no. 12 whiskey brand

Currently, McGregor’s Forged Irish Stout and Proper No. 12 brand of whiskey is sold in supermarkets nationwide in Ireland. The latter can also be purchased in a slew of other countries, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, Netherlands, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.

In 2021, Proximo Spirits purchased the Proper No. 12 brand for a whopping $600 million, of which McGregor reportedly received more than $150 million for his share in the company.

McGregor is expected back in the High Court next year after his former friend and fighter, Artem Lobov, filed a lawsuit claiming that McGregor’s whiskey was originally his idea. Lobov alleges that McGregor promised him a 5% stake in the business, but never received his share when the brand was sold.

If Lobov succeeds in making his case, it could cost the Irish megastar another $8 million.

Alleged Victim in Conor McGregor Assault Case Shares Her Story: 'He Wasn't Taking No for an Answer

A woman accusing Conor McGregor of sexually assaulting her at a Dublin hotel in 2018 has revealed some of the jaw-dropping details regarding what allegedly occurred that evening.

Nikita Ni Laimhin began seeking damages against the UFC star in 2021 after alleging that he assaulted her at the Beacon Hotel in Ireland three years prior. Both parties appeared in front of a High Court jury in Dublin on Tuesday to determine whether or not McGregor will be held liable.

Per a report from the Irish Mirror, Laimhin — who requested to be referred to as Nikita Hand — shared her side of what went down the night of the alleged assault and made it abundantly clear that she did not consent to any sort of sexual activity with McGregor.

“He was coming onto me,” Hand said. “He started to try kiss me, rubbing my face. I knew what he was looking for… ‘I don’t feel comfortable Conor’… I said no, I don’t feel comfortable. I know of Dee, I know her family… I didn’t want to have sex and I wasn’t there for anything like that. He just wasn’t taking no for an answer. He then pinned me onto the bed. Kept telling me to, ‘Relax, babe’… I remember putting my arms up against my chest. He just kept pushing his weight down on top of me” (h/t Sportskeeda).

Hand Says she though she ‘would be killed’ during alleged conor mcGregor assault

Hand claimed in her testimony that the mood had changed significantly once they were at the hotel and McGregor had allegedly told her to “suck on that” before the assault reportedly occurred.

“I remember [the] security guard over the window and another security guard closing the door between the two rooms. I remember panicking. Why is there three men in the room and I’m the only one in here? I also remember walking into the bedroom area and I remember walking the two rooms looking around and Conor was in the bathroom and he said something inappropriate to me. He told me to, ‘S*ck on that’.”

Conor McGregor

According to Court News Ireland, Hand said that she was left “weeping and shivering in pain” after the attack. She described it as “vicious and violent” and “thought she would be killed.”

Dr. Daniel Kane, an emergency room gynecologist who treated Hand at Rotunda Hospital shortly after the incident, said what he observed was “consistent with the outline of events as described by [Hand].”

Conor McGregor

Hand previously cited suffering psychological and emotional damage caused by the alleged rape and has been unable to work since May 2019, She is seeking damages of $1.79-$2.13 million for lost wages, a change of homes, and medical expenses.

McGregor and Hand are expected back in court on Wednesday and the civil trial is expected to last two weeks. Because it is a civil suit, McGregor is not expected to face any criminal charges.

Conor McGregor and his representatives have vehemently denied the allegations brought against him by Hand.

A new wrinkle has been added to the ongoing sexual assault investigation involving Conor McGregor and a woman who alleges that the Irish superstar raped her in a Kaseya Center bathroom earlier this month.

McGregor was in Miami for Game 4 of the NBA Finals to promote his new pain relief sports spray during halftime. During his stay, McGregor was spotted inside a nightclub mixing it up with an unidentified woman. Per an initial report by TMZ Sports, things got out of hand when the pair wound up in a bathroom together. It’s there that the accuser claims McGregor became very aggressive with her, allegedly forcing her to give him oral sex before attempting to sodomize her against the bathroom wall.

Each day, new information seemingly becomes available, and today is no exception. After video footage emerged showing McGregor and his accuser together before and after the alleged assault, a text message exchange between the woman and a security guard charged with protecting the UFC star inside the arena has been released. ABC’s Local10 News in Miami obtained the transcript courtesy of the alleged victim’s attorney, Ariel Mitchell.

“The assault had taken place at midnight, and she messaged him (the security guard) at noon,” Ms Mitchell alleged to News10. “My client knows him from being someone who had been a security guard at previous games.”

The incident was reported to local police on Sunday, June 11. According to Mitchell, her client was advised to seek out an attorney immediately to avoid undertaking the inevitable media circus without representation.

“They escorted her outside of the Miami police precinct and told her that if she were to report that crime at that time that it would immediately go viral within 20 minutes,” she told the news station. That she should seriously consider hiring an attorney to either (a) resolve this before a police report is necessary or (b) to help her navigate once she did file a police report. My client was, as you could imagine, very afraid,” Mitchell said.

Miami Police reportedly declined to comment on the accusation that the woman was advised to hire an attorney while attempting to file a report.

Conor McGregor’s attorney, Barbara R. Llanes, of Gelber Schacter & Greenberg, believes this is nothing more than a ploy to extort money from the former two-division world champion. Llanes suggested that video evidence showing McGregor and his accuser drinking at a nightclub after the time of the alleged assault will help to prove the innocence of her client.

“After the video was released by TMZ, the claimant’s lawyer now has changed her story,” the firm said. “Mr McGregor welcomes the investigation, which he firmly believes will show the claims against him are false. After not responding to the demand for money made by claimant’s counsel, she turned to the media to apply pressure. This is no more than a shakedown” (h/t Sunday World).

Alexander Emelianenko Sentenced to 4.5 Years in Prison for Sexual Assault

(Looks like someone’s got their next tattoo appointment booked!)

Perhaps it’s appropriate that last weekend’s Game of Thrones episode stirred up such a controversy for its disturbing ending, because today, MMA’s answer to Ramsay Bolton (discounting Joe Son, Hermes Franca, War Machine, etc.) has finally been brought to justice.

I’m talking about Alexander Emelianenko, of course, the beastly, abhorrent brother of Fedor who has been terrorizing Russia over the past few years with crimes including assault on a senior citizen, assault on a group of hecklers, theft, assault, hooliganism, assault, and also theft. Most recently, Emelianenko found himself facing sexual assault charges after allegedly drugging a 27-year old woman and “extorting her for sexual favors.” If convicted, Emelianenko was looking at a maximum of 6 years behind Russian bars, which is equivalent to approximately 28,000 years American.

According to RapsiNews, Emelianenko was convicted of sexual assault by a jury of his peers earlier this morning, and will now face 4 and a half years in prison.

Details after the jump.

Details after the jump.

MMA fighter Alexander Emelianenko was convicted of sexual assault and sentenced by Moscow’s Simonovsky District Court to 4.5 years in jail, RAPSI reported from the courtroom.

The court also imposed a 50,000-ruble fine ($1,000) on Emelianenko.

According to investigators, Emelianenko assaulted and raped 27-year-old Polina Stepanova, his housekeeper, on the night of March 2, 2014, and then seized her passport. The trial was held behind closed doors.

So I guess this means that the honeymoon’s over, then?

There’s not much else to say about Emelianenko’s latest atrocity, really, other than 4.5 years seems like far too polite a punishment for it. Then again, this photo taken from Alek’s trial seems to indicate that he is morphing into a pre-Gollum Andy Serkis…

…so perhaps another half-decade spent ogling over “his precious” behind bars will do him in for good.

So on behalf of the Potato Nation, the MMA Nation, the Zulu Nation, and the Nation of Humankind, let’s all bid Alex adieu. May these next 4 years be an absolutely unbearable series of tribulations that breaks (whatever’s left of) his spirit and will to live before casting him into the neverending darkness and despair of the special place in hell that’s reserved for rapists and thieves of his like. Or to put it another way…

Lee Mein Arrested for Felony Sexual Battery, Blocked From Cornering Son at UFC Fight Night 49

Jordan Mein seemed to be firing on all cylinders when he TKO’d Mike Pyle in a little over a minute at UFC Fight Night 49 in Tulsa on Saturday. But missing from Mein’s corner was his father Lee Mein — a veteran MMA fighter himself — who was blocked from his usual cornerman duties due to a Friday afternoon arrest for felony sexual battery.

The elder Mein was accused of assaulting a maid at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Tulsa, the host hotel for the event, just before UFC Fight Night 49 weigh-ins. Lee Mein was taken into custody, then released after posting $2,000 bond early Saturday morning. Nevertheless, UFC officials didn’t want him around that night. Here’s the official statement from UFC.com:

We were made aware that James Lee Mein, father of UFC competitor Jordan Mein, was arrested yesterday on allegations of felony sexual battery. Mr. Mein is accused of felony sexual battery during an encounter with a housekeeper at the UFC’s host hotel in Tulsa, Okla. The UFC finds the allegations against Mr. Mein deplorable and we fully support local law enforcement in its investigation. The UFC is also prohibiting Mr. Mein from attending tonight’s event. Jordan Mein will remain on tonight’s card.”

A fixture on the Canadian MMA scene since 2000, Lee Mein (now 47 years old) has jobbed his way to a 6-13 pro record as a heavyweight, and most recently lost to Tim Hague by TKO in February at WSOF Canada: Ford vs. Powell in February. At this point, Jordan Mein’s only public comment on the matter was to say that his father’s arrest wasn’t a distraction.

After the jump, the police affadavit adds more details about the housekeeper’s accusations…

It Looks Like Mike Whitehead Will Call Prison Home for the Next 1 to 4 Years

(Exhibit A for the defense: Whitehead can’t take a punch.)

In a surprising twist in the Mike Whitehead sexual assault case, the former The Ultimate Fighter 2 contestant was sentenced to between one and four years in Nevada State Prison today in Las Vegas. This according to the Associated Press.

Whitehead, who now lives in Tucson, Arizona and was scheduled to fight on Resurrection Fighting Alliance’s March 30 card in Nebraska, burst into tears after the sentence was read in Clark County court. He was immediately handcuffed and taken into custody. A report by the Associated Press states that “Iron” Mike (ironic, huh?) was charged with “attempted sexual assault,” which seems a bit off, considering he was full on having intercourse with a passed out chick while fondling her sleeping friend at his home when the victim woke up and told him to stop back in April 2010. In spite of her protest, Whitehead continued having sex with the 32-year-old acquaintance for several moments before climbing off of her and sitting naked on a chair in the corner while he stared at her and her 28-year-old girlfriend for a couple of hours.

It seemed like he would walk away with probation when it was announced late last year that he had struck a plea bargain with prosecutors to plead “no contest” to all charges against him to avoid the case going to trial, but it looks like the judge agreed with pretty much everyone that Whitehead should do the time for his vile crime.

Final sentencing is expected in the coming weeks, but a typical sentence for rape in Nevada where bodily harm doesn’t occur is life in prison with the possibility of parole after ten years. Four years is 40% of the normal penalty, so Whitehead should count himself lucky.

In addition to his stay in the big house, Whitehead will be added to the National Sex Offender Registry and was ordered to pay the victim $2,400 in restitution.

No word on whether or not an appeal will be launched, but it’s likely, considering that’s what pretty much every guilty person does.
