Henry Cejudo had a pretty interesting callout after his victory at last night’s (Sat. June 8, 2019) UFC 238 pay-per-view (PPV).

Cejudo defeated Marlon Moraes to take home the vacant 135-pound strap. “Triple C” finished the Brazilian in the third round with some nasty ground-and-pound. Shortly after his victory, Cejudo said he’s a prizefighter and is looking for the fights that pay him the most money. He called out three men in particular.

Those being former champions Dominick Cruz and Cody Garbardnt, as well as bantamweight legend Urijah Faber. Cejudo actually had the chance to come face-to-face with Cruz after the event during the post-fight show on EPSN+. Cruz said it’d be an honor to fight Cejudo after his shoulder injury heals up:

“Well in order to get your credit, you have to defeat the longest reigning champion in the history of the sport,” Cruz said with a chuckle.

“I respect you too, and especially calling me out after winning your two belts, that’s probably the good time to have the confidence to try to do it, so that makes sense. I’m going to come back from this shoulder injury, and if you would pardon me with the opportunity, it would be my honor. When you want to make it happen, I’ll be here for you.”

Soon after the fight, Cruz took to his Instagram account and posted a brief video response to Cejudo’s callout:

Garbrandt took to Twitter and issued a response as well. He credited Cejudo for calling him out, knowing he’s the biggest draw in the division:

“Congrats @HenryCejudo good call out you know I’m the biggest drawl in the division. I’ll be back to the top soon”

Amanda Nunes is undoubtably the greatest female mixed martial artist of all time.

“The Lioness” has picked up huge wins over MMA pioneers such as Cris Cyborg, Miesha Tate, and Ronda Rousey. Her latest victory over Cyborg, in which she knocked out her fellow countrywoman in the first round, resulted in her becoming the first-ever women’s double champion in UFC history.

Now reigning as UFC bantamweight and featherweight champion, Nunes prepares to drop back down to 135 pounds and defend her title. She’ll take on Holly Holm at UFC 239 next month (Sat. July 6, 2019).

Speaking at last night’s (Sat. June 8, 2019) UFC 238 post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White revealed that Nunes actually wants a rematch with Cyborg:

“She wants to fight Cyborg again,” White said. “I don’t think Cyborg wants to fight her again, but she wants Cyborg. So if that fight does or doesn’t happen – hopefully it happens because Amanda wants it, but if it doesn’t, no big deal, she already beat Cyborg.”

Shortly after these comments, Cyborg took to Twitter to issue a response. Here’s what she had to say:

A reporter actually read the response to White at the press conference. White responded by saying he wasn’t speaking negatively of Cyborg. He simply said if she wants the fight, they can make it happen. But if Cyborg decides to go a different route, that’s not a problem:

“Hey, Cyborg,” White said at the camera with a smile. “Amanda wanted to fight at 135 again, defend her belt there – she’s fighting Holly, then go back there to 145 to face Cyborg. She wants to fight you now, so, she wants that Cyborg fight bad.

“So if Cyborg’s interested, we can do it. If Cyborg is not interested, like I said, it’s okay. Not saying anything bad about Cyborg. She is ready, willing and able, you know, if she beats Holly, she wants to fight Cyborg. So if Cyborg wants the fight, it’s there.”

Dana White Confirms UFC Flyweight Division Is Here To Stay

Last night (Sat. June 8, 2019) Henry Cejudo continued to make strides in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career.

Cejudo captured the vacant UFC bantamweight title when he defeated Marlon Moraes in the main event of UFC 238. The pair headlined the pay-per-view (PPV) from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. After overcoming a poor first round, Cejudo switched up his game-plan, brought the fight to Moraes, and ended up winning the dog fight in the third round with some nasty ground-and-pound.

Now, Cejudo is the first fighter in UFC history to have won an Olympic Gold Medal, and hold two UFC titles simultaneously. Speaking at the UFC 238 post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White said he was “blown away” by Cejudo’s performance, and will never doubt the former Olympian again:

“I’m blown away by his performance, I’m never going to doubt that kid again,” White said. “Tonight, going into this fight, Moraes is bigger, stronger, explosive, has a ton of weapons, and he was busting his legs up. Cejudo, what he did tonight, he did it with no legs too. That guy had no legs left. I thought this fight was 10 or 12 leg kicks from being over.

“And he adapted in that second round and switched up the entire fight, running right into Marlon and trading with him. Then he gets him in the clinch and hits him with, like, 10 knees to the face and the knees to the body he was hitting him with. It was unbelievable. I am blown away.

“This guy has heard it all from, “Oh, you didn’t rally beat Demetrious. It was a fluke when you knocked out TJ.” You can’t deny the guy anymore. He’s awesome.”

After his victory, Cejudo – now dubbing himself “Triple C” – proceeded to call out the likes of Dominick Cruz, Urijah Faber, and Cody Garbrandt. With his newly-acquired accolades, Cejudo is looking to make some serious cash by challenging top names. However, White sounded less than thrilled with the prospects:

“Cruz is injured, Faber is old, and Cody Garbarndt. Got it,” White said. “I don’t know, we’ll sit down with him and figure out what he’s talking about. We’ll see what we do.”

Dana White Confirms Flyweights Are Here To Stay

White was then asked about the state of the flyweight division given Cejudo’s victory. At one point the UFC was making moves to completely shut down the 125-pound weight class. However, those talks seem to have dissipated after Cejudo’s flyweight title win over Demetrious Johnson.

Cejudo’s reign has breathed new life into the flyweight division, and White confirmed that the weight class is here to stay for the time being:

“100 percent, obviously him winning had a lot to do with the division,” White said. “So, yeah. Have I said that it’s going away? Did I say that it’s leaving? I haven’t even talked about that division in months. Yes, I just did (confirm the division is sticking around). It is confirmed.”
