Dan Hooker displayed his powers of recoveries as his bruises and cuts have all but healed a week after his war with Dustin Poirier.

Hooker and Poirier fought for 25 minutes in a back-and-forth Fight of the Year candidate at UFC Vegas 4 last weekend. Although Hooker had a promising start, Poirier eventually took over and did enough to earn the unanimous decision victory.

Both fighters received plenty of damage and were transported to the hospital soon after. However, it was Hooker who took more damage by far as he had a number of bruises and cuts on his face that required stitches.

Now back in New Zealand, Hooker seems to have nearly recovered completely a week after the fight as he shared a before and after image of his face on Saturday.

Hooker Not Looking To Stay Inactive

With his injuries healed up, “Hangman” is looking to get right back into action soon.

Once his 14-day quarantine period ends, he hopes to return to the gym and have his next fight sorted out.

He has already spoken of facing either Tony Ferguson or Charles Oliveira and either one of those fights would be potential barnburners.

What do you make of Hooker’s powers of recovery? And who should he face next?

Coach: Dustin Poirier Deserves ‘Million Dollar Payday’ For His Fights

Poirier

American Top Team head coach Mike Brown believes his pupil Dustin Poirier deserves a lot more money for his fights.

Poirier returned to the win column following a unanimous decision victory over Dan Hooker in their Fight of the Year candidate in the UFC Vegas 4 headliner this past weekend.

For his efforts, “The Diamond” took home a $300,000 payday along with a $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus. However, Brown feels Poirier is deserving of at least seven figures given how his fights almost always guarantee entertainment.

As for what is next for Poirier? Ideally, a title shot again.

“If it were me, it’s a title shot,” Brown said on The Luke Thomas Show when asked who Poirier should face next. “In a perfect world, if Gaethje wins [against Khabib Nurmagomedov] … in a perfect world, that’s [Gaethje vs. Poirier] what would happen. That would be, everything going, best case scenario.

“But whoever he fights, he deserves a raise and deserves a lot of money for what he’s doing. Every time, it’s craziness, right? Every fight is wild. There’s never a boring minute. I think he deserves a million-dollar payday.”

Poirier Has Taken A Lot Of Damage

In addition to the crazy fights, Poirier has also taken plenty of damage. Against Hooker, he absorbed 155 significant strikes alone.

That’s something that concerns Brown, but also further proves his point as to why Poirier deserves bigger paydays.

“Yeah, this is not good for you,” Brown added. “This is why this guy deserves a lot of money, this guy deserves to be paid. This is why we all want to see him fight. As a fight fan, him and Gaethje are the two most exciting guys in the organization every time. They went head-to-head already and it was Fight Of The Year. I mean every fight for him is a Fight Of The Year candidate.

“Yeah, it’s concerning because you don’t know which one will be the last one. Any one of these could be the last one. These guys are doing a lot of damage to each other. It’s definitely not good for you.”

Do you agree with Brown?

Mickey Gall is holding his head up high following his latest setback.

Gall met Mike Perry in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 4 last night in a highly-intriguing welterweight bout, especially with the latter only having his girlfriend in his corner.

In the end, it didn’t seem to affect proceedings much as although Gall had some promising moments on the feet, he was ultimately outclassed by Perry in every facet of mixed martial arts who even dropped him in the second round en route to a unanimous decision victory.

Gall Says He Will ‘Grow’ From ‘This Little Loss’

It meant Gall once again alternated between wins and losses as he has done so since 2017.

However, he is only taking this loss as a learning experience as he plans on getting right back in the thick of things in August which is when he wants to compete next.

Here’s what he had to say after the fight on Instagram:

“Lost a decision. Fun fight for me. Much love everybody. I appreciate you guys. No excuses. I know who I am I’m holding my head high. I’ll be back in the octagon soon & better than ever. Gonna grow from this little loss. No where in the world would I have rather been tonight. Believe that. See you soon. I’m still full of love and gratitude ? Thanks for the love always (*when the @ufc gets back from fight island to America)”

Gall became famous in the MMA world for being CM Punk’s first UFC opponent as he submitted the former WWE champion with ease when they met in 2016.

However, Gall has gone 3-3 since with his last win coming in August last year when he outpointed Salim Touahri.
