The men’s welterweight division does have a rather tasty offering for the UFC 213 fight card. Robbie Lawyer will be taking on Donald Cerrone on July 8th, come UFC 213 in the famous T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Robbie Lawler is not just a revered and able fighter but one who is even feared. He has shown that he is not only capable of beating his opponents, but beating them pretty hard and pretty badly. There have not been too many fighters that have gotten into the octagon with Robbie Lawler and come out unscathed, they often end up in bad shape to say the least. Lawler is renowned for his devastating blows and merciless strategies. However, this does not seem to phase Donald Cerrone who is willing to try his luck.

In his own right, Donald Cerrone himself can put an opponent to sleep pretty effectively. They don’t call Donald Cerrone “The Cowboy” for no reason. He is packing some serious fire power and can really pack a punch. He is known for his finishing skills and they certainly are going to be tested against Lawler. One of the things that is going to attract viewers to this fight is that neither of these fighters hold back, they really don’t like to play defensive or be on the back foot all the time. From the moment the fight gets underway, they are going to be lashing out at each other with everything they’ve got. In terms of records, it stands – Robbie Lawyer (27-11) and Donald Cerrone (32-8).

They are both returning from losses and will be looking to get back on winning ways. No wonder this has been termed the “People’s main event” for UFC 213.

Prediction – Robbie Lawyer to win by unanimous decision.

UFC 213 Predictions – Anthony Pettis Vs. Jim Miller

Rewind four years ago and this fight could have very well been the main card of the night. Back in 2013, both these fighters were challengers that could not be underestimated at all. Rewind four years ago and this fight could have very well been the main card of the night. Back in 2013, both these fighters were challengers that could not be underestimated at all. They were rising through the ranks almost in sync with each other and this would have been an absolute dream fight it were to have happened back then. They were both sharp, had a lot of tricks in the bag and could put a fight to sleep in a fraction of a second.

However, their shine has faded since then. It is now 2017 and both fighters are struggling, that is no overstatement. Anthony Pettis is not in the best form of his life, he has lost four of his previous five fights and has looked like a shadow of his former self. Most recently, he really got a beat down from Max Holloway. Thankfully for Pettis, Miller is not exactly flying either! Miller has most recently been defeated convincingly by Dustin Poirier and is still trying to get back on his feet.

How this fight will unwind is certainly not going to be easy to predict. Pettis is not the bullet he once was, and has almost looked lethargic at times. However, he has still displayed glimpses of the brilliance that we all know he possesses. On the other hand, Miller is hungry for victory and that it pretty apparent in his body language, but somehow he has just not been able to put two and two together in the octagon when it matters. Pettis does have the better reach and also a very competent ground game, but Miller is really good when it comes to cage – cutting and clinch work.

Prediction – Pettis to win by unanimous decision.

UFC 213 Predictions – Amanda Nunes Vs. Valentina Shevchenko

The main card of UFC 213 comes from an unlikely source – the women’s Bantamweight division. This is will unquestionably be the fight that everyone is going to be tuning in for, the highlight of the evening. Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko are both gifted fighters that have worked incredibly hard to be at the level that they find themselves in today and they both deserve the spot light for sure. However, the night can only belong to one of them! The big question is – who is going to come out on top? The records as they stand are Amanda Nunes (14 – 4) and Valentina Shevchenko (14 -2 ).

Neither of these women have, however, been in the limelight for long. During this time two years ago, Nunes was just getting back up on her feet after being knocked out by Cat Zingano and Valentina Shevchenko was travelling the world fighting anywhere and everywhere that she was given the opportunity, still very green behind the ears.

How times have changed! Nunes has risen to the top almost explosively after back to back knockouts against the likes of Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey. In fact, Nunes is so well known because she really gave the one and only Ronda Rousey’s career a deathblow. Valentina Shevchenko on the other end of the octagon, in her own right, has triumphed against Holly Holm and Julianna Pena.

However, it is plain to see that Valentina Shevchenko has more gas in the tank and we think that will be especially advantageous considering that this fight will consist of five rounds and not three. Our pick here would be Valentina Shevchenko by unanimous decision.

UFC Fight Night 213 Predictions – Yoel Romero Vs. Robert Whittaker

UFC 212 was no doubt a highly entertaining event which was full of talented fighters going at one another, but in all honesty, it lacked the illustrious, big names that the fans wants to see. UFC 212 was no doubt a highly entertaining event which was full of talented fighters going at one another, but in all honesty, it lacked the illustrious, big names that the fans wants to see. When the fight card came out, most people were underwhelmed. It looks like the UFC have keenly identified their previous short comings and have evidently more than compensated for them with the fight card for UFC 213. There are several highly anticipated big name  fights that will be fought come July 8th in T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada. However, in the men’s class, the fight that everyone will have their eyes on is Yoel Romero (12 – 1) against Robert Whittaker (18-4) in the middleweight division.

It is no secret that the middle weight division has been cursed with a lack of bouts in the UFC. The dates have had one set back after another as the UFC scramble to get put together a middleweight title bout between Michael Bisping and Georges St-Pierre. The rest of the fighters in the division have been put on a hold, and now finally Yoel Romero can take on Robert Whittaker and the wait, if anything, has only added to the build up of this fight. Whittaker has proved his mettle as a fighter, he has steadily progressed through the ranks for three years now and has even taken down an established contender such as Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. However, Romero is no slouch either and has been on a roll himself with victories against revered talents such as Lyoto Machida and Chris Weidman. In fact, Romero is on an unstoppable 8 fight winning streak.

While Whittaker is more technical and seems to have superior cardiovascular fitness levels, Romero is a sensational finisher. It is going to be a tough fight to call, but we have to put our money on Romero to win by unanimous decision.

UFC 25 FINALE – Michael Johnson vs. Justin Gaethje

Just one day before UFC 213 gets underway on July 8th, in the same venue (T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada) Michael Johnson and Justin Gaethje will warm up the crowd and set the mood when the face off in a fight as part of the UFC 25 Finale. Michael Johnson is a force to be […]

Michael Johnson is a force to be reckoned with. He has a knack for knockouts and a staggering 44% of all his victories has come by the way of knockouts. His record currently stands at 18 – 11. Johnson’s recent form has dipped, however. In his most recent fight, he suffered a loss at the hands of Khabib Murmagomedov. His previous six fights have been splits and he is going to be hungry for a win, a convincing one at that. In fact, he will most certainly be looking to put the fight to bed before it can even get to the judges. His strike statistics do look promising with an averages strikes per minute of 3.77 and a strike accuracy of 35.3 %. When it comes to take down stats, his average is 0.58 takedowns with a 53.8 % accuracy which is not bad at all.

Gaethje, without a question of a doubt has a better record of 17 – 0. Furthermore, over 3/4th of his victories have been courtesy of knockouts, some of them pretty brutal. His most recent fight was a victory against Luiz Firmino. Gaethje’s is certainly going to be high on confidence stepping into the Octagon come July 7th.

This will no doubt be an entertaining fight which see’s two fighters with rather identical fighting styles try to outwit and out strike each other. It is admittedly difficult, however, to see Gaethje lose. He really has no weak points are vulnerabilities. He is a great grappler and can knock opponents out with hands or feet.

Prediction – Gaethje to win by knock out

UFC Fight Night 110 Predictions – Derek Brunson Vs. Daniel Kelly

This UFC Fight Night 110 bout is going to be the fight in the middle weight category that everyone is going to have their eyes on. Derek Brunson will be making the trip to New Zealand to fight Daniel Kelly who is from Australia and is only a short flight away from Auckland. Will being close to home work as an advantage to Daniel Kelly?

If the recent past is anything to go by, then Kelly certainly has a very strong chance at taking Brunson out. Kelly has been put up repeatedly against fighters who were touted as favorites and Kelly has proved the bookies wrong each and every time. Despite being the underdog in all of his past fights, Kelly has still emerged victorious time and again. Kelly is a four time Olympian and that really shows in his grappling game. He is very technical and looks comfortable when the fight hits the floor.

However, make no mistake, Brunson is no couch potato. Brunson himself can pack a punch even a heavy weight would be proud of. Furthermore, he does have a wrestling background too and so he is not bad himself when it comes to grappling. He is well rounded and uses techniques from both boxing and wrestling. He is certainly a force to be reckoned with.

Yet again, Kelly is going to find that he is the underdog. However, that hasn’t deterred Kelly in the past. Brunson, on the other hand, is considerably better than any of Kelly’s past opponents. He is more athletic and can really put an end to the fight if he can get one hit through. While Kelly will be looking to stay defensive and take the fight to the mat the first chance he gets.

Prediction – Brunson can take this by technical knockout
