Jan Blachowicz is arguably the biggest light heavyweight  underdog on the whole fight card and he hails from Poland. His opponent however, is a two time former champion of this weight division (light heavyweight) and is making his return to the octagon after a sabbatical.

Despite his lack of experience, we can tell you that Blachowicz has potential and is techinically very gifted. His strength is on his two feet and he does his best to keep the fight going vertically at all times. Blachowicz has a quick sharp jab which he uses to unleash a variety of other quick punches with both hands. He is a well rounded fighter and makes good use of his legs as well. Even though he is not exactly the most agile in the weight division, he has shown remarkable improvement in terms of footwork which only seems to keep getting better and better with every fight.

Coming to his weaknesses which the experienced Gustafsson will be looking to exploit. Blachowicz is defensively naive and leaves himself open to potentially fatal blows far too often. We are sure he has been told this plenty times by his coach and we will be looking closely to see if he is making a conscious effort to defend better. Blachowicz is also not the best grappler and Gustafsson’s startegy might just be to get the fight to the ground as soon as possible and keep it there for as long as possible.

This fight see’s two ex heavyweight champions of UFC take on each other, but their form and standings has dropped since these men were champions nearly ten years ago. Arlovski was looking in good form and was just about to get himself a title shot, but then suffered two consecutive fights which killed his chances of getting a title shot.

On the other hand, Barnett has also not been in great form of late ever since his return to UFC, he has won a few and lost a few, but his most recent fight was against Ben Rothwell and he lost by a stunning submission.

Arlovski is a fighter who has a great right hand and will be looking to make connection. Arlovski can deliver a huge amount of force with his right hand and Barnett will be very well aware of this. However, even though his right hand is his strength, it could be said that his over dependence on his right hand is almost a weakness since he really does not use his other three limbs all that effectively. Arlovski’s right hand is not only capable of dishing out a deadly blow, but is also capable of doing this at lightning quick speeds. In the past, a jab setup was what was in his artillery, but now he has added some variety and can throw an eclectic collection of punches and combinations, albeit, with just his right hand.

Despite the fact that he is heavily dependent on his right hand, we still feel Arlovski might just prove to be a little too much for Rothwell to handle. Who are you putting your money on?

 

CM Punk is the talk of the town at the moment. Some people hate him and some people love him, but we think it is a good idea to put your money on him and here are three compelling reasons why.

Big stage experience – CM Punk has a lot of fight time under his belt in the big stages which attract big crowds and this is crucial considering he is going to be tackling press conferences, media interviews, and video packages. Punk is not a stranger to any of these things given his WWE experience.

On the other hand, his opponent Mickey Gall is on the other end of the spectrum when it comes to big stage experience. It is safe to say that this is going to be his first time in the spot light. Gall has only had two pro fights previously in his career. We have all seen it happen before, a newbie fighter is thrown in the ring and tries to do something spectacular in order to attract attention and it ends up being an epic fail in most cases.

Punk has a lot on the line – CM Punk has come under a lot of criticism for having signed with the UFC and a lot of people will be wanting to see him lose, ergo, CM Punk has a lot to prove and he knows it. But Punk is no stranger to being the underdog everyone thinks has no chance, he has found himself in this situation several times in the past and has always come out on top.

His training camp is a good one – Roufusport training camp is the real deal and they will ensure that Punk is where he needs to be mentally and physically prior to this fight.

John Lineker vs. John Dodson will be the main event come UFC fight night 96 as the two fighters are both equally matched, agile, quick on their feet and like to fight standing up. When the odds opened it had Dodson as the favorite going at -125 which basically means a $125 bet would return the initial bet amount with a winning of a $100 and Lineker at -105. However, the tables have now turned and the bookmakers have Lineker as the favorite now.

Dodson has an impressive professional record of 18 MMA wins and 7 MMA losses and & UFC wins to 7 UFC losses. Lineker is no slouch either and has under his belt 28 MMA wins and 9 UFC wins to & MMA losses and just 2 UFC losses.

Alexa Grasso to make much anticipated UFC debut in Mexico

Alexa Grasso is one of Mexico’s rising stars when it comes to mixed martial arts and she is now set to make her UFC debut right in her country at UFC fight night 96. Grasso will take on Heather Jo Clark on the card which is scheduled to occur on November the fifth in Mexico City.

Grasso’s most recent victory comes against Jodie Esquibel in the MMA where Grasso has an immaculate record of 8 wins and 0 losses.

 

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will happen next week in Germany and fans are going to be treated to yet another mouth watering fight as Alex Enlund vs. Martin Buschkamp makes a late entry into the fight card. It will be fight in the featherweight division.

UFC fight night 93 is scheduled to take place on September third at the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany. The whole card will be streamed live on UFC fight pass.

Buschkamp is a Brazilian fighter who is extremely skilled when it comes to grappling and loves to take the fight to the mat. He is a submission expert and a staggering 7 of his total 9 career wins have come courtesy of submissions. However, the 25 year old fighter has been out of action since June of 2014 and his opponent, former Cage Warriors champion, England’s 29 year old Alex Enlund will be trying to take advantage of Buschkamp’s lack of recent competitive action.

Veronica Macedo steps it to replace Germaine De Randamie against Ashlee Evans – Smith

UFC fight night “Arlovski vs. Barnett” will not be featuring Germaine De Randamie vs. Ashlee Evans – Smith after all.

Instead, Veronica Macedo steps in to replace De Randamie as Smith’s opponent. De Randamie announced recently that she was out with a foot injury.

UFC is officially expected to announce the new match up soon. UFC fight night 93 is scheduled to take place on September 3rd in Barclaycard Arena.
