Rome Native UFC fighter Alessio Di Chirico has opened up about his upcoming fight against Gareth McLellan and has also talked about why it is that he cannot relate to some of ancient Rome’s most famous and celebrated fighters and gladiators.

Di Chirico is still a budding fighter with not the most professional UFC experience under his belt and will be taking on Gareth McLellan on the back of his first ever defeat which came courtesy of a decision awarded to Bojan Velickovic in April.

Even though he lost to Velickovic, it is safe to say that the fight was a very close call and unlike the judges, a lot of viewers thought that it was Di Chirico that deserved the victory.

When prompted whether he was in agreement with the decision of the judges, Di Chirico said that he really did not care for the decision and that no fighter could be satisfied with victory if it came by a decision.

When asked if he was inspired or thought of himself as a Roman gladiator, Di Chirico ridiculed the idea saying Gladiators were slaves and that the motto of his team is “Not Gladiators, we are Knights”.

Di Chirico also expressed that he respected his opponent. He said McLellan was an old school fighter who started off with Karate and then improved his style by adding wrestling, grappling, etc into the mix.

The fight is going to be well contested, but we have a feeling Di Chirico will nick this one.

Overeem will be taking on Miocic in Miocic’s home turf Cleveland, but that does not seem to have deterred his confidence and belief as she will be looking to rain on the parade.

Overeem spoke to media personnel and exclaimed that just like how Miocic was able to turn down the volume when he fough Fabricio Werdrum in Brazil in UFC fight night 198 back in the month of May, Overeem now wants to do the same to Miocic by beating him in his own backyard – Cleveland.

Overeem was quoted saying “I am actually very excited about fighting in Cleveland”.  He also confessed that he was well aware that 99% of the crowd will be rooting for Stipe, but he sees this as motivation and will enjoy it when the referee raises his hand in victory and silences the crowd while Overeem’s fans all across the globe will rejoice.

Anthony Pettis Vs Charles Oliveira has been dubbed the co main event for UFC on Fox 21. The fight will belong to the featherweight division. Anthony Pettis is the former lightweight champion and he will looking to right wrongs and get back to winning ways when he takes on the unknown element Charles Oliveira who is unheralded.

Oliveira will if course be looking to get the fight to the mat as soon as possible, because the longer both fighters stay on their feet, the lesser the chances are for Oliveira to have any winning chance whatsoever.

Oliveira has a bag of strong, technical submissions, but the question is whether he will even get the opportunity to use them considering the fact that Pettis is agile and his strikes are swift and lethal. It is safe to say that Pettis is the better striker here, and our prediction is to go with Pettis for the victory.

Other main card fights also featuring on UFC on Fox 21 are Paige VanZant vs. Bec Rawlings and Jim Miller vs. Joe Lauzon.

The preliminary card will feature Sam Alvey vs. Kevin Casey, Chad Laprise vs. Thibault Gouti, Enrique Barzola vs. Kyle Bochniak, Shane Campell vs. Felipe Silva, Garreth McLellan vs. Alessio di Chirico, Marlon Vera vs. Guangyou Ning, and Ryan James vs. Adam Hunter.

This will be the highlight fight of the UFC on Fox 21 fight night and is certainly a very promising fight which fans all across the globe are eagerly waiting for. Demian Maia is the ex middle weight title contender and he will be taking on none other than the former welterweight title contender Carlos Condit.

The fight will be a classic tossup between someone who has quick deadly strikes in his bag  and someone who is an expert when the fighting goes to ground when the grappling skills comes in handy. Maia is absolutely relentless when the fight goes to the mat and there is no doubting that he will be focusing on getting Condit to the ground at all times. On the other hand, Condit of course is very aware of this fact and will be looking to stay on his feet since that is where he has the upper hand being the better striker.

However, Condit is no slouch on his back either. Condit is a capable grappler himself and has won via submission on multiple occasions in the past, but does he have what it takes to fend off Maia on the ground? We will have to wait and find out!

For anyone looking to punt on this fight, despite Maia’s prowess on the ground or the mat, we would still suggest that you put your money on Condit. Condit is quick on his feet, and will not be easy to take down. Furthermore, he is hungry for another title shot and victory in this fight will inch within grasp of one.
