The latest addition to the names of fighters that have called out middleweight king Michael Bisping now includes the infamous former champ Anderson Silva. Silva is widely regarded as one of the all-time greatest’s when it comes to the middleweight division by many fans, experts and MMA fighters alike.

Silva who has a formidable record of 33 wins and 7 losses in the MMA and 16 wins and 3 losses in the UFC has in fact already faced Bisping once earlier this year when he (Silva) lost by unanimous decision. Bisping’s record is pretty impressive itself, he has 29 wins and 7 losses in the MMA and 19 wins and 7 losses in the UFC. However, Silva is convinced, despite his loss earlier in the year, that Bisping is no match for him, Silva is now demanding a rematch and the fans would, seemingly, enjoy a rematch too.

So how exactly did Anderson Silva call out Bisping? Well, he took to the one and only Instagram to join the likes of fighters such as Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman. Rockhold is a fighter who Bisping trumped in the very first round of their clash in UFC 199 which took place earlier this month and Weidman on the other hand was the fighter that was supposed to face Rockhold in a rematch but was forced to pull out which  allowed for Bisping’s against the odds triumph against Rockhold.

Bisping’s reactions have always been concurrent with procedures and rules of the MMA itself. He expressed that Weidman should not get to fight him because Weidman could not even beat Rockhold and as far as Rockhold is concerned, Bisping is of the opinion that Rockhold should earn his fight against Bisping by proving he is deserving of it by coming through the right channels and actually earning his title shot like how the MMA prescribes.

How Bisping will react to one of Anderson Silva’s latest Instagram posts where he claims Bisping is afraid to fight him will surely be interesting to see.

Jorge Masvidal Vs. Lorenz Larkin has all the makings of a legendary fight. Masvidal himself has spoken about how he is looking forward to the fight and said that the fight would surely be a “good scrap”.

Masvidal had a disappointing year in 2015 where he dropped two bouts out of a total three and now seems more determined than ever to get back to winning ways. 2014 was the year when we saw glimpses of his true raw potential and what he could do in the octagon when he went on a three fight winning streak.

In 2015, however, his losses were not convincing and he only lost by close calls so it is safe to say that he has not really been beaten beaten. He lost to the reputable Al Laquinta and Benson Henderson and both decisions were rather controversial.

Masvidal, despite these losses, still has a respectable record of 29 wins and 10 losses in the MMA and 6 wins and three losses in the UFC.

Facing Masvidal come fight night 88 will be Lorenz Larkin who has a record of 16 wins and 5 losses in the MMA and 3 wins and 5 losses in the UFC. Masvidal said to media personnel that he is excited for the fight and Larkin is exactly the kind of fighter he wants to face at this stage in his career. Masvidal said that Larkin will not be joking around and will really bring the fight to Masvidal and Masvidal welcomes the challenge.

UFC fight night 88 will happen on the 29th of May. The Venue will be Mandalay Bay events center in Las Vegas. The fight night and its cards will all be telecasted on FOX sports 1 following the broadcast of early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

From a betting perspective, we really are not too certain of how this fight will go. However, if you have to put your money on someone, we would suggest Masvidal, but not by too much.

The reason we haven’t talked of, seen or heard about Rick Story in the recent past is because he was injured and this was not some little sprain. The injury could have ended his career and many people did not expect him to return after his injury and he himself has confessed that it was a nightmare of an injury. However, thanks to the advances in medicine and especially in innovative surgeries, Rick Story is once again punch it out in the octagon.

His come back however has not been as smooth or scare free as he would have liked. It was in a training bout with Erick Silva when the injury exposed its scary face again and Story’s heart skipped a beat.

He was caught by what he described as a “stinger” and thanks to the predisposition because of the injury, he lost muscle function in his right arm and shoulder and this was only three weeks before a fight. Story even said to media personnel that his arm was rendered so useless that he couldn’t even lift up a jar of pickle.

So what did Story’s surgery involve? Story basically had bone spurs going through the canal to the vertebrae that were responsible for the functioning of his right arm and shoulder muscles. The surgery essentially removed these vertebrae and replaced them with artificial disks which allowed him to regain control of these muscles.

A few years ago, such procedures were not FDA approved yet and Story would never have been able to fight again. Thanks to recent review and approvals, the procedure which has allowed Story to continue doing what he loves is now FDA approved and the UFCMMA will also not disallow him from fighting post surgery.

When asked about how he felt to be fighting world class fighters with artificial vertebrae, Story said confidently that as far as he was concerned, he felt better than he did many years ago when he was young and wresting in college. We await his come back in fight night 88 where he faces Tarec Saffiedine.

Why is there so much hype surrounding Mayweather vs. McGregor?

Speculation has it that a fight between two of MMA’s most well – known personalities, Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, is ultimately inevitable and bound to happen sometime in the very near future. While it seems like a feverishly exciting prospect, there is no solid evidence (or any evidence at all for that matter) to believe that this matchup is actually going to take place in real life. We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we must suggest that you do not buy into the hype and believe the word going around and get your hopes and expectations up because it is not likely that this super fight will actually transpire.

The hot air surrounding the hypothetical fight is propelled and further promoted by several online news articles claiming they have breaking news about the super fight while in reality they are just using such headlines as click baits. Having gone through dozens of such “breaking news” articles, it is safe to say, that it is nothing but a pie in the sky.

Thankfully, there are a lot of level headed, rational people out there who are not so naïve as to buy into this speculation and the question they are asking is – why is the MMA fan base so fixated on coming up with fantasy matchups involving Mayweather?

According to MMA columnist and expert Ben Fowlkes, all the hype is simply because Mayweather Vs McGregor would be like something out of a movie and people do not care whether it may actually happen or not, they continue to talk about it like it will happen any moment now. In fact some even take it one step further and get into heated arguments about how the fight would play out.

Furthermore, if you think about it, most fighters in the UFC these days are kind of generic – background in Jiu Jitsu, kickboxing or wrestling, same old same old. However, when it comes to Mayweather people are nostalgic about his boxing and can relate to it on some Rocky Balboa level. On the other hand, Conor McGregor is a breath of fresh air in terms of personality and speculation himself. Thus, it is rather conceivable that fans match up the two and talk about it as a “superfight”.
