Press Release – By now, many MMA fans in Canada and beyond have heard the buzz about the upcoming MMA documentary series, The Fight Exchange; currently in production, and scheduled for broadcast this fall on Superchannel. The show will follow six up and coming fighters, three from Canada and three from Brazil, as they take part in a one of a kind, school exchange program for MMA.

Having recently returned from filming in Brazil, where Mauricio Veio’s team Evolucao Thai fighters took on tough opponents from the famed Team Nogueira gym in Rio de Janeiro, The Fight Exchange now moves back to Canada to follow the journey of Brazilian fighters Claudia Gadelha (6-0, 130lbs), Felipe Olivieri (10-3, 155lbs) & Daniel ‘Jacare’ Almeida (7-2, 185lbs).

Production was set to conclude following completion of the Brazilian contingents scheduled bouts , which were expected to headline the now defunct FREEDOM FIGHT MMA: CAGED COMBAT event which was scheduled for April 21st in Sudbury, Ontario. Following the collapse of this event, Fight Exchange producer Aaron Avruskin (Rebel Media Ventures International) was quick to contact Wreck MMA president Nick Castiglia in hopes of saving three great fights!

With little negotiation required, both Wreck MMA and The Fight Exchange came to a quick agreement ensuring that Canadian fans will not be denied a chance to witness a Brazilian Invasion, as three hungry young fighters from Nova Uniao in Rio de Janeiro will take to the Wreck MMA cage as part of the already stacked Wreck MMA: Road to Glory event at the Casino Du Lac-Leamy, in Gatineau, Quebec on Friday April 20th 2012.

As for the bouts that will be added to the Wreck MMA event as a result of this alliance, the first is a middleweight scrap between former Bellator combatant Smilin’ Sam Alvey (17-4) and Daniel ‘Jacare’ Almeida (7-2). Also added is a lightweight bout between Cesar Gracie team member and Strikeforce veteran David ‘Tarzan’ Douglas (8-3) and the hard hitting Felipe Olivieri (10-3). And last but not least, Canada’s top female fighter Valerie ‘Trouble’ Letourneau (4-2) steps up to face the undefeated BJJ Black Belt, Claudia Gadelha (6-0).

Avruskin added, “When we realized the Sudbury event was no longer a possibility, we knew we had to get in contact with Wreck. They had a great event already planned, and their strong reputation led me to believe they’d recognize the opportunity to add three top-tier international fights to their card. I’m glad they saw it that way and we’re ecstatic to be taking this production to Gatineau for a great night of fights”.

In addition to the up and coming UFC hopefuls, dubbed ‘the Brazilian invasion’, the Wreck MMA: Road to Glory event features a Main Event featuring two of Canada’s top bantamweights as ‘Relentless’ Randy Turner takes on Eric ‘Odalay’ Perez for the Wreck Bantamweight Title. Also on the card are UFC veterans Mark ‘Boots’ Holst and Kit Cope and top Canadian talent Nabil ‘The Thrill’ Khatib, Brant Dewsbery, Jeff Harrison, Pablo Santos and many others.

Tickets are available from the fighters, via Ticketmaster.ca or by calling (613) 755-1111. Buy your tickets now asthere are only 1500 seats available and this event will once again sell out!! Press Release – Wreck MMA is excited to announce several key fights for the upcoming event on April 20th at the Casino Lac Leamy in Gatineau, Quebec. In a battle of two elite strikers, Wreck MMA: Road to Glory will be headlined by two UFC veterans as Ottawa’s own Mark ‘Boots’ Holst will take on Gideon Ray. Also on the card, is local favourite Nabil ‘The Thrill’ Khatib taking on welterweight prospect Brandt Dewsberry, OAMA’s ‘Relentess’ Randy Turner taking on Top-10 Bantamweight Eric Perez and Robin Black returns to the cage against Chris Myra.

After over a year layoff, Holst has decided the time was right to return to the cage and was looking for a challenge in his first fight back. Ray brings over 30 professional fights of experience and has been in the cage with UFC veterans John Alessio, Luke Caudillo, David Loiseau and Brian Gassaway. Holst won his last fight at Wreck MMA against ‘Showtime’ Wedderburn in impressive fashion. The two UFC veterans are known for their exciting standup skills and it’s expected that one of these warriors will fall by KO.

After an impressive win against Chris St-Jean, Dewsberry returns to Gatineau to face his toughest test. A training partner of Wreck veteran and current Strikeforce star Jordan ‘Young Gun’ Mein, Dewsberry is looking to establish his spot among the elite in the Canadian welterweight division. Khatib is coming off a potentially controversial decision loss to Nathan Gunn and is looking to once again step into the cage for the Wreck Welterweight Title. Will the other young gun take away the veteran’s opportunity?

With five fights in 2011, Turner established himself as a rising star in the Bantamweight Division. With the goal of becoming one of Canada’s best, Turner was looking for a big challenge and found it in one of the sport’s most exciting stars; Winnipeg’s Eric Perez. Perez, who trains at the Winnipeg Academy of MMA has won six fights in a row and has had multiple Fight of the Night performances at the CFC. Both fighters are known to give 100% effort in each bout so this fight will be a high paced action driven tilt.

Score Fighting Series color commentator Robin Black returns to Wreck with redemption on his mind. Unhappy with his last performance and still lingering bad feelings about his MMA debut, Black returns to Gatineau to kill two birds with one stone. Black wants to prove to the fans that he is better than his performance in Gatineau and is looking for revenge against the man who gave him his first MMA loss; Chris Myra. Myra returns home to fight and wants to leave no doubt that he, not Black, is the better fighter.

The event also features some of the top talents in the Ottawa region as Stephane Bernadel, Pablo Santos, Randy Dube, Andrew Walters, Jeff Chan and other local talent will be competing at this event. Wreck MMA UnstoppablePress Release – Wreck MMA is proud to announce additional details for Wreck MMA: Unstoppable on May 6th, 2011 at the Casino Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Quebec. Presented by The Score, the event will be headlined by two of Canada’s top bantamweights who do battle for the Wreck Bantamweight Title. John ‘The Haggis Basher’ Fraser steps up to face Saskatoon’s undefeated prospect Eric Wilson. Fraser is on a four fight win streak and in his last fight he defeated the talented veteran Thierry Quenneville for a featherweight title. Wilson is coming off a win against rising star Roland Delorme that cemented him as one of the nation’s top bantamweights. A win against Fraser would put away any doubts whether Wilson is the real deal and firmly establish himself among the elite.

In the co-main event, Team Bushido’s Nabil ‘The Thrill’ Khatib returns to Wreck as he faces one of the bad boys of MMA, Markhaille ‘Showtime’ Wedderburn. Khatib’s last fight in Wreck ended controversially and Khatib is looking to leave no doubt with this one. Both fighters have shown a great deal of heart and expect this one to be a real test of will with the victor being the one who refuses to break. A win here by Khatib can put him in like for a title fight at the first ever event in Ottawa in September.

In the second title bout of the night, Jesse ‘The Ghost’ Gross returns to Wreck to face veteran Brad Cardinal for the Wreck Lightweight Title. This fight is Gross’ toughest challenge to date and will show where Gross stands among Canada’s top prospects. Cardinal has been around long enough to not be affected by the hype surrounding Gross and wants to leave Ottawa with some shiny new gold.

Wreck MMA is pleased to announce the addition of UFC Veteran Gideon Ray to the event in a featured bout of the evening. Ray has faced a who’s who of MMA veterans like David Loiseau, Mike Swick, John Alessio and Jason Macdonald. His opponent on this night is K1-Heros, Shooto and ZST veteran Sergej Juskevic. Making his Canadian debut, Juskevic (who lives in Toronto) is a former Lithuanian kickboxing champion with a solid ground game. After winning six of his last seven fights, Juskevic could potentially be the next breakout Canadian star.

Craig ‘Farmer’ Brown will step into the Wreck cage against the veteran Dan Chambers and Lindsey Hawkes will face Nathan ‘Gunner’ Gunn in a potential fight of the night candidate. Also scheduled to appear are OAMA standouts Jeff Harrison, Christopher St-Jean and Randy Turner alongside talented Ottawa based fighters. On the card are Tapout Gatineau’s Pablo Santos, RAMA’s Marc Lefebvre and Cedric Grenon, BTT Canada prospect and former member of the Canadian national judo team, Scott Edward.

Wreck MMA: Unstoppable is proud to be supporting the Ryan Williams Fund. The Ryan Williams Fund helps raise money for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) to purchase new equipment. Wreck Promoter Nick Castiglia will also be returning to the MMA cage on this event and will be donating his purse to the Ryan Williams Fund. Tickets for this event are available via Ticketmaster.ca or by calling (613) 755-1111. Buy your tickets now as there are only 1500 seats available and this event will once again sell out!!
