Welterweight fighter Matt ‘Deep Waters’ Riddle (7-3) is now a Bellator fighter after the promotion purchased his contract from the Texas based Legacy Fighting Championship.
Riddle had been released by the Ultimate Fighting Championship following a second failed drug test for Marijuana and was quickly signed by Legacy FC. ‘Deep Waters’ was scheduled to compete for the promotion on July 19 at Legacy FC 21 against Arenas Young, but will instead compete inside the Bellator cage.
News of the promotion change surfaced Friday night on AXS TV’s ‘Inside MMA’ program.
Riddle fought his whole career under the UFC banner, appearing as a competitor on “The Ultimate Fighter” season seven. He would go 7-3 with 2 “No Contests” in his time inside the Octagon.
Two positive tests for Marijuana spelled his dismissal. The most recent took place this past February which saw Riddle defeat Che Mills by split decision in England at UFC on FUEL TV 7. While the first positive test occurred last summer at UFC 149, seeing Riddle submit Chris Clements in the third round.
Riddle possesses a licensed for medical Marijuana use in the state of Nevada.
