UFC light heavyweight Mauy Thai fighter Cyrille Diabate certainly gained a lot of fans with his recent victory over Luis Cane at UFC 114: Rampage vs. Evans and he’s set to take on Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 120: Bisping vs. Akiyama but he still has some interest in fighting Michael Bisping in the future. If you remember, the two jawed each other when Dan Henderson brought Diabate as a coach opposing Bisping on The Ultimate Fighter 9. Diabate recently talked about Bisping, via BritMMA:
I would fight him if the UFC chose to put me against him. Right now I just want to fight the most entertaining fights possible, move up in the rankings and eventually fight for the belt. If I need to fight Mike on the way it will be a pleasure. Mike and I respect each other but dislike each other. There are just some people you dont get along with for whatever reason.
With a few more victories we just might see Diabate take on Bisping inside the Octagon though the two had previously fought kickboxing as part of CWFC: Strike Force 1 on May 21, 2005. The winner via decision was Diabate, but we have to be quick to point out that there’s a huge difference between a pure striking sport and one that incorporates the ground game. Either way, it would be an entertaining match for fans.
