Let’s try this again.
Thiago Alves and Jordan Mein, who were scheduled to meet at the UFC Fight Night 49 card in August, will collide at the UFC 183 pay-per-view show on Jan. 31 in Las Vegas, the promotion announced today.
Forced out of the UFN 49 with a knee injury, Alves was replaced by Mike Pyle, who suffered a 72-second knockout by the hands of Mein. Winner of five of his last six bouts, Mein (29-9) also defeated former Shooto welterweight champion Hernani Perpetuo in his current winning streak.
Alves (20-9) will make his return to the Octagon after being sidelined with another injury. The American Top Team welterweight, who fought only once since March of 2012, looks to build a win streak to get closer to another shot at the UFC title. In his last appearance, “Pitbull” defeated Seth Baczynski at UFC on FOX 11.
UFC 183 will be headlined by a middleweight contest between former champion Anderson Silva and MMA star Nick Diaz.
