UFC light heavyweight contender Daniel Cormier has been named co-host of Fox Sports 1’s ‘UFC Tonight’. He will join former UFC lightweight Kenny Florian as the show’s other co-host. Fox Sports announced the news Monday.
Cormier has served in a variety of broadcasting roles for the network, including pre- and post-fight shows, weigh-in specials and more. The Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix champion had also been filling in for previous co-host Chael Sonnen, who was let go from Fox Sports following a series of drug test failures related to his professional fighting career in June of this year.
“I love being a part of UFC on FOX family and extending my mixed martial arts career,” says Cormier via press release. “The TV analyst role is exciting, fun and actually improves myfightingskills,because I see the actionso differently now. I look forward to working with the team each weekon UFC TONIGHT and vow to bring the lightheavyweight title belt with me to the desk in January.”
Cormier is still an active fighter with the UFC. He is set to face UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones in the main event of UFC 182 in January of 2015. The American Kickboxing Academy team captain is undefeated in his career, with his current record standing at a perfect 15-0.
