A Korean news site is reporting (mfight.co.kr) an upcoming welterweight bout between UFC fighters Nate Diaz (13-5) and “Stun Gun” Dong-Hyun Kim (13-0-1). The Ultimate Fighting Championship is looking to book the fight for it’s upcoming UFC 125 event which is set for New Year’s Day, Jan 1st, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Kim Dong Hyun: “The most important thing for my next fight is to try to win in exciting fashion with a KO or submission finish.”
Diaz earned a second straight victory by defeating Marcus Davis by technical submission at last Augusts UFC 118: Edgar vs. Penn 2 event. Diaz choked Davis unconscious to earn the win. He defeated Rory Markham at UFC 111 in a 179 pound catchweight bout by TKO in the first round of their fight.
Before those two wins, Diaz had a bit of a rough patch going 1-3 over four fights having defeated Melvin Guillard but dropping bouts to Gray Maynard, Joe Stevenson, and Clay Guida.
Kim, meanwhile, has managed to stay undefeated in the UFC winning four fights under the promotions banner. He does have one No Contest on his record which came against Karo Parisyan after he tested positive for banned painkillers at UFC 94. Parisyan had been awarded a split decision win but was changed afterwards. “Stun Gun” has also fought to a draw against Hidehiko Hasegawa back in October of 2007 at a DEEP – 32 Impact event.
