A late report by MMAWeekly.com, has brothers Jim and Dan Miller facing separate opponents at the upcoming UFC 124: St-Pierre vs. Koscheck event. Jim Miller (18-2) will meet Charles Oliveira (14-0) in a lightweight bout, while brother Dan Miller (12-4) faces Joe Doerksen (46-13) in a middleweight matchup.
UFC 124: St-Pierre vs. Koscheck is set for Dec. 11th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and will feature a welterweight title bout between current champ Georges St-Pierre versus top contender Josh Koscheck.
Jim Miller has won five straight and is 7-1 in the UFC. He recently defeated Gleison Tibau by unanimous decision at last months UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares. The lightweight has scored wins over Mark Bocek, Duane Ludwig, Steve Lopez, and Mac Danzig in that five win run. His only loss in the UFC came at the hands of Gray Maynard at UFC 96.
Oliveira remains perfect at 14-0, earning two submission wins in both of his UFC appearances. Those victories also earned the Brazilian “Submission of the Night” honors. He defeated Efrain Escudero at UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares, taking the fight at a 169 pound catchweight bout. His first UFC appearance was against Darren Elkins at Augusts UFC Live: Jones vs. Matyushenko, submitting his opponent with an armbar.
After dropping three straight with the UFC, Dan Miller was able to keep his job by submitting John Salter at UFC 118. Usually two straight losses gets a fighter the pink slip, but Miller managed to stay on with the promotion and come back with a win. The three losses were to Michael Bisping at UFC 114, Demian Maia at UFC 109, and Chael Sonnen at UFC 98. All three defeats were by unanimous decision. So far with the UFC Dan Miller is sporting a 4-3 record.
Joe “El Dirte” Doerksen will look for a victory against Dan Miller in his sixth shot with the UFC. His recent stretch with the promotion has him 1-1, having lost to CB Dollaway at UFC 119 last month. “El Dirte” returned to the promotion at UFC 113 earlier this year, submitting Tom Lawlor with a rear-naked-choke at the Montreal show. He then took a fight outside of the UFC at a Canadian Fighting Championship 5 event earning a first round TKO win. The fight agreement for the CFC event was already in place before the UFC 113 fight, so Doerksen was allowed to compete at the event.
