The UFC will return to Brazil in May for UFC Fight Night 67, and the promotion is already working on the first bout of the card.
Former interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit is expected to take on UFC veteran Thiago Alves on May 30 in Brazil. Sources close to the situation told MMAFighting.com that the bout is in the works but is not yet finalized. MMA Junkie first reported the news.
According to sources, UFC Fight Night 67 will take place at the Goiania Arena in Goiania, marking the return of the promotion to the same arena that held Vitor Belfort vs. Dan Henderson 2 in 2013.
Condit (29-8) steps back in the Octagon for the first time since sustaining a knee injury during his UFC 171 fight against Tyron Woodley in March 2013. The former champion tries to get back to the win column for the first time since a fourth-round knockout victory over Martin Kampmann.
Alves (21-9) successfully returned to action after multiples injuries with a devastating second-round knockout over Jordan Mein at UFC 183 in January. The former title contender enters the cage coming off back-to-back victories over Mein and Seth Baczynski.
