As UFC continues to practice a “three strikes and you’re out” rule and basically a “we can also cut you at anytime” rule (see Todd Duffee), Middleweight Patrick Cote announced he received his walking papers today, following his UFC 121 Unanimous Decision loss to Tom Lawlor. Cote, who proved a viable contender for Anderson Silva at UFC 90 in 2008, having victories over names like Kendall Grove and Ricardo Almeida had a bad blow in the third round when an awkward kick landed him with a knee injury which put him out of the game for a year and a half. Following his return to UFC 113 against Alan Belcher, he was choked out in the second round, which lead him to his final loss with the organization against Lawlor this past Saturday.
The 30 year old French-Canadian wrote about his cut from UFC stating, “I had a little hope but finally got the release word from the UFC. Its been a awesome experience! Ill be back!!”
