Todd_DuffeeFormer UFC heavyweight Todd Duffee (6-1) was released by the UFC this past September and he’s still not entirely sure why.

Duffee was the talk of the division after his record seven second knock-out of Canadian Tim Hague at UFC 102. He would go on to face Mike Russow at UFC 114 and was unable to put in a repeat performance, getting knocked out in the third round by Russow.

It would be just over three months after the loss that Duffee would find out that he was cut by the UFC. Some critics noted that the heavyweight was cut because of remarks he made about the promotion, and UFC president Dana White even noted that he wasn’t sure Duffee wanted to fight in the UFC.

“Dana never actually talked to me. The only time he talked to me was after my first fight [in the UFC], and he publicly went out and said that I had a good attitude. I gave up my entire life [to be a fighter]. The thing that was insulting to me was when he said that he didn’t know if I wanted to be in the UFC. I have a horrible attitude because Dana White says I have a horrible attitude. That’s frustrating, you know?. I can’t tell you how hard that is to swallow. My last five and a half years have been based around only fighting. I don’t have friends. I don’t go hang out and party. I’m not that kind of guy. I know a lot of people say that I was complaining about money, and I wasn’t. I was getting paid more than fair…You could pay me $100,000 right now, and I’m still going to have a weekend job, because I have a set training schedule [in Denver] that I didn’t have in Vegas. That made a lot of people mad, but I don’t know why.”
