Heavyweight fighter and two time Olympic Freestyle Wrestler Daniel Cormier (6-0) defended his XMMA title to remain undefeated on Friday. Cormier earned put down opponent Soa Palelei in the first round by TKO at the Xtreme MMA 3 event at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre in Sydney, Australia.
This was Cormier’s first XMMA heavyweight title defense since defeating Lucas Browne last July at an Xtreme MMA 2 event in Australia. The heavyweight is also the current KOTC heavyweight champ, submitting Tony Johnson on August 13th at the King of the Cage: Imminent Danger event.
Cormier is also under a non-exclusive contract with the Strikeforce organization, having fought three times for the promotion. His last Strikeforce appearance was on August 21st, just a week after his KOTC win, earning a first round win over Jason Riley at the Strikeforce: Houston event.
