Let’s face it, Ronda Rousey fights were made for social media. The UFC women’s bantamweight champion’s 34-second romp over Bethe Correia at UFC 190 — and Correia’s subsequent faceplant on the mat — will forever go down as one of the iconic moments of Rousey’s career. A trash talking rival downed in less than a minute by an element of the champ’s game we barely knew existed. And Instagram user azxd, the artist behind the brilliant claymation recreation of Rousey-Zingano, couldn’t help but give it his own special treatment.
Azxd’s channel has a few other MMA tributes on it — McGregor-Mendes got into the action — but Rousey’s bite-sized violence in the era of bite-sized entertainment has become something else entirely. Her last four fights, against the No. 5, No. 4, No. 3, and No. 2 ranked women in the division, have lasted a combined two minutes and 10 seconds. And with each passing win, the chances of your mom or your grandma asking you about that Rousey fight last night have exponentially skyrocketed. However you slice it, that’s a different kind of ridiculous. Now if we could only get Cyborg into the mix…
