Gleristone Santos will finally make his Bellator debut.
The featherweight prospect, who won 17 of his last 18 fights, is set to take on fellow Brazilian John Teixeira on the prelims of Bellator 143 in Hidalgo, Texas, on Sept. 25, sources told MMAFighting.com.
Santos (27-4) enters his Bellator debut riding a nine-fight winning streak with six finishes, including a pair of wins under the Titan FC banner in 2014. “Toninho Furia” looks to work his way up the rankings towards a rematch with Bellator featherweight champion Patricio Freire, who defeated him in 2009.
Teixeira (19-1-2), who suffered the only loss of his professional MMA career in a close split decision against Hugo Viana at UFC 147, is 2-0 inside the Bellator cage with wins over Scott Cleve and Fabricio Guerreiro. A member of the first edition of TUF Brazil, “Macapa” puts his seven-fight unbeaten streak on the line against Santos.
Bellator 143 takes place at the Hidalgo’s State Farm Arena and features a bantamweight clash between former champion Joe Warren and L.C. Davis in the main event.
