A pair of Brazilian heavyweights will collide at the Bellator 143 card in September.
The promotion has officially announced that K-1 veteran Ewerton Teixeira will make his Bellator debut against Vinicius Queiroz. The match-up completes the Bellator 143 main card, scheduled for Sept. 25 in Hidalgo, Texas.
Teixeira (3-0) is a black belt in kyokushin karate with an 11-4 record under kickboxing rules, including wins over Jerome Le Banner and Errol Zimmerman. After scoring a KO win in his MMA debut in 2012, the 33-year-old striker scored back-to-back decision wins before signing with Bellator.
Queiroz (7-3) also enters the bout coming off a long layoff, finally healed from a severe knee injury that forced him out of the Bellator heavyweight tournament final in 2013. “Spartan”, who left Team Nogueira for Kings MMA in 2015, is coming off a 20-second knockout win over Lavar Johnson.
Bellator 143 will be headlined by Joe Warren vs. L.C. Davis, while Joey Beltran takes on Kendall Grove in the co-main event. Henry Corrales vs. Emmanuel Sanchez completes the four-fight main card.
For the preliminary portion of the card, Bellator has announced a pair of lightweight bouts, Jose Flores (3-0) vs. Guillermo Gonzalez (3-0) and Guilherme Farias da Costa (3-0) vs. Jared Chaffe (4-1), while Bryce Mejia (3-0) faces Abdul Razak Alhassan (3-0) in a welterweight contest.
