Alex Oliveira will enter the UFC Octagon for a fourth time in less than nine months.
The Brazilian fighter, who moved up from lightweight to welterweight on short notice a couples times to defeat K.J. Noons and Joey Merritt earlier this year, will return to 155 pounds to take on Piotr Hallman at UFC Fight Night 77 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Nov. 7.
Sources close to the situation confirmed the match-up to MMAFighting.com following a report by Combate.
Oliveira (13-2-1, 1 no-contest) will have a full camp for a bout for the first time in his UFC career. “Cowboy” signed with the promotion to take on Gilbert Burns on short notice at UFN 62, and was winning the fight before tapping to an armbar with seconds left in the third round. He returned two months later to beat Noons and Merritt in a four-week span.
Hallman (15-4) returned from a suspension in June, suffering a second-round TKO loss to Magomed Mustafaev in Germany. In his previous bout, the Polish lightweight lost to Gleison Tibau via decision, and then tested positive for drostanolone.
UFC Fight Night 77 takes place at Sao Paulo’s Ibirapuera gymnasium.
