Well, if Miesha Tate upsetting Holly Holm to become the new UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion wasn’t enough, the main event had quite the shocking outcome at UFC 196 as well.

UFC veteran and former TUF Champion Nate Diaz forced “The Notorious” Conor McGregor to tap out to a rear-naked choke at the 4:12 mark of the second round, ending what was a two-round war up until that point.

McGregor lumped up Diaz with kicks and punches in the first round, opening a big cut near Diaz’s right eye that turned the Stockton native’s face into a crimson mask. Diaz was covered in blood by the end of the first.

In the second round, Diaz’s face was a completely bloody mess after McGregor started putting together an impressive series of strikes only to get caught with some by Diaz that rocked him. McGregor never seemed to completely recover as from that point on, Diaz stayed on McGregor and blistered him with a barrage of shots that led to him getting the Irishman’s back and sinking in the rear-naked choke.

“Hey, I’m not surprised mother f*ckers,” said Diaz when Joe Rogan asked him how it felt to get that victory.
