In the most American way possible, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is bringing back “Fight for the Troops” sometime in 2016.
The plan to reinstall the series was revealed during a recent press release announcing the UFC’s renewed partnership with Harley-Davidson, which has been a huge advocate for U.S. armed forces during its relationship with the promotion. The last time UFC hosted one of these events was back at UFC Fight Night 31 (Fight for the Troops 3) in 2013, which saw Army Sergeant First Class Tim Kennedy dismantle Rafael Natal via first-round knockout.
While the new military program put in motion by UFC and Harley-Davidson will help assist active and non-active military members with benefits, it will also bring back an event that helps shed light on the brave men and women that vigorously protect our country.
There has been no official announcement pertaining to a date and venue for the fourth “Fight for the Troops” extravaganza (yet), but it would probably be wise to include Kennedy once again.
The middleweight top contender hasn’t competed since losing to Yoel Romero at UFC 178 back in 2014, and has been itching for a good reason to get back into action.
