It now looks like former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight knockout artist Matt Mitrione (9-5) will make his Bellator debut on June 24 opposite Carl Seumanutafa (10-6) at Bellator 157: Dynamite 2 in St. Louis, Missouri.

The man known as “Meathead” will attempt to forge success in the Bellator cage after producing a moderate clip as a UFC rising contender. He recently lost to Travis Browne at UFC Fight Night 81 via third-round technical knockout, but inadvertent eye pokes played a major role in Mitrione’s demise.

Having signed with the promotion back in March, the 37-year-old essentially enters Bellator 157 with a clean slate. He is a little on the older side, but Mitrione possesses some of the best footwork at the Heavyweight level. However, Seumanutafa commands some serious punching power and could cause problems if he lands.

If Mitrione can start his Bellator career off with a bang, it shouldn’t take him long to land on the championship doorstep.
