The Ultimate Fighting Championship last made an appearance in Brazil way back in October of 1998 with UFC Ultimate Brazil. That event featured a middleweight title bout between Frank Shamrock and John Lober, as well as another middleweight tilt between Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva.
Rumors have surfaced that the UFC might be looking to hold another event in Brazil in 2011, now Tatame.com is reporting that the UFC president Dana White is headed to Brazil for a press conference on December 15th to announce such an event.
The UFC will return to the birth land of MMA in 2011, just like TATAME Magazine informed in last July. And the show will take place at Rio de Janeiro, city that will host the Olympic Games in 2016 and the World Cup in 2014.
TATAME was informed this morning that UFC president Dana White will host a press conference – which will air live through the internet – at Palacio da Cidade, official residence of Rio’s mayor, on December 15th, to announcer UFC’s second edition in Brazil. Anderson Silva and Maurício Shogun, UFC middleweight and light heavyweight champions, will also participate at the press conference. Stay tuned for more news.
