The unthinkable has happened.
Muhammad Ali, the greatest boxer of all time, has passed away at the age of 74. The man who transcended the sport he dominated for countless years died Friday (June 3, 2016) evening in a Phoenix-area hospital, according to a report by NBC News.
Ali had been battling Parkinson’s disease for nearly 32 years before passing away following respiratory issues dating back to earlier in the week. Funeral arrangements are in the process of being finalized for his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
This is utterly shocking news considering how many lives Ali impacted throughout his career. Not only in the boxing ring, but more importantly as an activist for civil rights and political outcry.
Inside the squared ring, Ali compiled a masterful record of 56-5, which included winning three world championships and securing a blistering 37 knockouts. He was known for his superb footwork, innate ability to absorb damage, and the unparalleled mental fortitude that crippled so many of his opponents.
Ali is survived by seven daughters, two sons, and a remarkable career that stretched from the sports world to politics, military, and entertainment.
