Rose Namajunas says she’s the most ready for Joanna Jedrzejczyk at 115 pounds

There will be much at stake for Rose Namajunas tonight (Sat., July 30, 2016) at UFC 201 when she takes on undefeated Polish sensation Karolina Kowalkiewicz from Atlanta, Georgia. Not only will “Thug” put her three-fight win streak on the line, but she can essentially lock down a title shot with a victory.

If she can do that, Namajunas will soon find herself across the cage from current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. While Namajunas fought for the 115-pound title once before, losing to Carla Esparza back in 2014, she has never faced someone quite like Jedrzejczyk. As a champion who stands undefeated at 12-0 and has racked off four-straight dominant championship victories, Jedrzejczyk is truly in a class of her own.

However, out of every Strawweight on the UFC roster, Namajunas believes she’s the most ready to challenge the champion and test her skills in every department.

“For me, it’s like the truth don’t get me mad. It’s like who is ready for her,” said Namajunas in a recent interview with FOX Sports. “Obviously, me having this fight right now is not just because I want to stay active, I do want the experience, but I’m right (expletive) there.”

“I don’t think anybody else is ready for her the way that I am.”

With recent victories over Paige VanZant and Tecia Torres, “Thug” has certainly done more than the rest of the division’s available contenders. She has gained massive experience since her first title loss and has shown the capability to win a fight on the feet or the ground.

“At this point in my life, this is the only thing that matters to me,” added Namajunas. “I have the most passion ever. So skill and passion has never been something that’s a problem, it’s just experience. I feel that’s always been something I could use more of.”

“Joanna says who’s ready for her — after this fight, I will say I will be ready to fight for the belt that same night on July 30.”

UFC 201 will be headlined by a Welterweight title fight between champion Robbie Lawler and top contender Tyron Woodley.

MMAmania.com will deliver LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the entire UFC 201 fight card, starting with the Fight Pass “Prelims” matches online, which are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET, and then the remaining undercard balance on FOX Sports 2 at 8 p.m. ET, before the PPV main card start time at 10 p.m. ET.
