Following her fight with Valentina Shevchenko at last month’s UFC On FOX 20 event, former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm didn’t only walk away from the Octagon that night with her second professional MMA loss, back-to-back nonetheless, but she also went home with a broken thumb.

Earlier this week, Lenny Fresquez, manager of “The Preacher’s Daughter,” spoke with ESPN.com about his fighter undergoing surgery to repair her broken thumb.

“She had eight pins inserted into her hand,” said Fresquez to ESPN. “We’d still like to fight by the end of the year. As far as an opponent, we’ll have to see who comes up. Whoever she fights, Holly needs to take care of business.”

Holm, who defeated Ronda Rousey in a huge upset less than a year ago, is now 0-2 in her last two Octagon appearances, falling from champion of the women’s 135-pound division to being ranked number four.
