David Teymur vs Jason Novelli
In the only Lightweight contest of the night, former TUF standout Teymur (5-1) went after his second Octagon win against 37-year-old veteran Novelli (11-2). After a back-and-forth first round, Teymur landed a scintillating left hand in Round 2 that dropped Novelli to the canvas. As Novelli attempted to regain his wits, Teymur secured the technical knockout finish with a powerful four-strike combination. This is Teymur’s second-straight finish inside the Octagon and a performance that should land him a more established veteran before year’s end.
BOOM! @DavidTeymur with a VICIOUS knockout of Jason Novelli! #UFCSLC https://t.co/Skok9O490V

Teruto Ishihara vs Horacio Gutiérrez
In the first FOX Sports 1 preliminary bout, Featherweight prospect Ishihara (9-2) looked to put his heavy hands on the chin of Gutierrez (2-3). Let’s just say it didn’t take long for the Japanese knockout artist to put an end to “The Punisher.” With a huge counter left hand while moving backwards, Ishihara dropped Gutierrez and followed up with some insurance shots to earn himself the first-round technical knockout finish. The win will certainly propel “Yashabo” towards the 145-pound division’s top 15.
Ishihara is a fan of three things. Money. Women. And knocking dudes out cold. #UFCSLC https://t.co/dzEAjsWl20

Fight Pass “Prelims”
Cub Swanson vs Tatsuya Kawajiri
With a comeback campaign in mind, versatile striker Cub Swanson (23-7) looked to win his second consecutive bout when he met ground-and-pound veteran Tatsuy Kawajiri (35-10-2) in a battle of rebounding Featherweight contenders. Despite catching Kawajiri with a couple of good right hands in the first round, Swanson simply couldn’t ward off the ground attack of “Crusher.” Kawajiri landed one flush right hand, secured a takedown, mounted Swanson, scored some points and rode the position until the first round came to an end. In Round 2, Swanson reversed a Kawajiri takedown attempt, took the veteran’s back, landed some punches and nearly finished the fight via choke before Kawajiri ripped his arm away. After that, Swanson accidentally landed an illegal knee to Kawajiri when he was down on all fours. Kawajiri controlled Swanson for the majority of Round 3 with ground-and-pound before Swanson threatened to finish the fight on the feet with under 90 seconds to go. The last ditch effort helped seal a unanimous decision win for Swanson as he continues to push his way back into title contention.
WOW @CubSwanson reverses the takedown and lands in full mount!! He’s trying to sink in the #RNC!! #UFCSLC https://t.co/pwpBlHqeTB

Chase Sherman vs Justin Ledet
In the first fight of the evening, Heavyweight prospects Sherman (9-2) and Ledet (7-0) attempted to deliver in their Octagon debuts. After a back-and-forth first round that featured crisp counter strikes by Ledet and punishing leg kicks by Sherman, Ledet began to pull away with his boxing and strike placement. With Sherman bloodied and out of sorts, Ledet was able to move around the pocket, land with efficiency and take advantage of a tired opponent. It was quite the patient performance by a divisional newcomer like Ledet and a unanimous decision victory that will prolong his UFC stay.
