Conor McGregor spoke about the press conference incident that had people throwing bottles and cans at each other.
The UFC 202 pre-fight press conference started with Conor McGregor showing up late and it ended with bottles, cans and even cups of liquid being thrown by both camps as Nate Diaz was walking out. Nick Diaz also took to social media to say that a little girl was hit by one of those objects thrown in their camp’s direction.
When asked about the whole altercation that saw McGregor throwing multiple cans of energy drinks, Conor joked a bit with the UFC Tonight crew.
“Look, I don’t know. I saw people panicking up in the stands, and I thought maybe it’s a case of dehydration. I don’t know what was going on, I was simply launching up some hydration for people. We’re around the desert here, it’s intense.”
He then gave a more serious response after, saying he was just reacting to the situation.
“I don’t know. In reality, they were walking out, talking shit, throwing bottles. If you want to fight, let’s fight,” he said. “It was nothing. I don’t know what happened, I just defended myself and that’s it.”
