More buzz has surfaced concerning UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture’s recent Tweet that had many believing the 47 year old fighter was set to retire.
“Thanks to everybody who’s been tweeting about seeing my fights I must have missed the memo I think I’m at the end of it Yall. It’s time.”
Couture’s lawyer has since come out to clear the air noting the former UFC champ isn’t ready to retire just yet.
Now the aging veteran has come out saying that he’d like to fight Lyoto Machida or Mauricio “Shogun” Rua next after speaking to the LA Times.
“If [the UFC] offered me Shogun or Machida, I’d take the fight. Otherwise, I think I’m done. [I’m] gonna focus on acting and the businesses.”
Couture is on a three fight win streak that most recently saw him compete at UFC 118 last August against boxing champion James Toney.
A match between either fighter is probably not going to happen, with Machida coming off back-to-back losses and Rua set to defend his title in March. If Couture does compete again in the octagon it would most likely be a bout without title implications.
