Fresh off his second round submission win at UFC 204, Stefan Struve wants to test his skills vs. a fellow heavyweight submission artist.
Struve, appearing on Brian Stann’s “Toe-2-Toe” podcast, revealed that he would like to fight Josh Barnett next.
“December or January makes sense for me,” said Struve, who owns a win over current UFC champion Stipe Miocic. “I looked at the rankings and one of the first names that comes up is Josh Barnett.
“He’s ranked higher than me. I think a win would bring me closer to my goal of fighting for the title.”
Like Struve (28-8), Barnett is coming off a victory over Andrei Arlovski (35-8) in his most recent appearance. The former UFC heavyweight champion has now won four of his last six overall.
