A couple of Brazilian middleweight fighters will meet at the upcoming UFC on Versus 3 event according to Tatame.com who is full of MMA news this Sunday Morning.
Tatame is reporting that submission experts Rousiamr Palhares (11-3) and Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira (18-7) have verbally agreed to meet at the upcoming March 3rd event and a written agreement should be signed by both very soon.
Palhares, who has won eight of his eleven victories by submission, is coming off a recent loss to Nate Marquardt by TKO at last Septembers UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares event. In the fight with Marquardt, Palhares accused his opponent of greasing after a failed submission and payed for his inattention via a strong ground-and-pound from Marquardt. That loss stopped a three fight win streak and puts the Brazilian’s UFC record at 4-2.
“Cacareco” Ferreira has won seventeen of his eighteen victories by submission over his twelve year mma career. He made his UFC debut in November at UFC 122 against Vladimir Matyushenko, losing by TKO in the first round. It was his first loss in four years stopping a seven fight win streak.
A loss for either fighter will likely mean ejection from the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Fans should expect an exciting display of Jiu-Jitsu as both men will look to submit the other.
