While President-elect Donald Trump used to do a lot of business in New York City, it’s probably the last spot he’d want to show his face following a turbulent presidential election. So when Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White announced earlier this week that Trump may attend UFC 205 later tonight (Sat., Nov. 12, 2016) at Madison Square Garden in New York City, some people were caught off guard. UFC 205 is going to be a massive event and would require even greater security for the billionaire politician.

Well, it now seems as if Trump will not be making an appearance this evening at the most-anticipated event in mixed martial arts (MMA) history. Trump is an avid fan of the sport and helped nurture the promotion during its infancy. White also spoke on Trump’s behalf at this year’s Republican National Convention in July. However, Trump will not be attending UFC 205 after all.

“No, he will not be here,” said White during a media scrum following Friday’s (Nov. 11, 2016) UFC 205 weigh ins (h/t Fight Network).

Considering UFC 205 will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between current champion Eddie Alvarez and featherweight king Conor McGregor, Trump may be missing out. He probably could have landed cageside seats. But with a four-year presidential term staring him in the face, the republican may be better off laying low and planning accordingly.

MMAmania.com will deliver LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the entire UFC 205 fight card, starting with the Fight Pass “Prelims” matches online, which are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. ET, and then the remaining undercard balance on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET, before the PPV main card start time at 10 p.m. ET.
