UFC 206: Matt Brown says former sparring partner Donald Cerrone is a ‘bully’ and a ‘douchebag’

Matt Brown faces Donald Cerrone at UFC 206, and he didn’t exactly have nice things to say about his former sparring partner.

Donald Cerrone faces Matt Brown at UFC 206 in what promises to be an exciting match between two dynamic strikers and fan favorites. The two fighters are also very familiar with each other, having sparred together numerous times in Colorado.

“It’s exciting. Matt and I used to train together,” Cerrone said during a media scrum. “I’m sure he knows exactly what I’m going to do, and I now what he’s going to do. It’s going to be fun.”

While Cerrone didn’t seem to show anything negative towards his opponent, Brown spoke out on how he doesn’t care much for his former training partner.

“Most of my opponents I’m really respectful to, and I think they’re respectful to me,” Brown said on his own media scrum. “I don’t know if he means it or not, I don’t know maybe he’s just a douchebag of a person, but I get that feeling when he’s talking to other people, especially other fighters, he feels like he’s above other people.

“And he’s kind of bully, you know what I mean? You watch his fights where he lost where he got bullied back, and he didn’t like that. That’s what I got to do to him.

“I just think his whole thing is based on lies. A lot of people fall into that, but I ain’t falling into it.”

Brown says that Cerrone has a bunch of “yes men” lying and pumping him up. He also states that it is something about Cowboy’s character that irks him, rather than one specific scenario or incident.

“It’s just his personality, you can see the way he talks. He wants to be an alpha male and he really wants to portray himself as something special,” he said. “It’s my job to come in there and expose that truth out of him.

“I didn’t see him yesterday, but I will give him the cold shoulder. I’ve talked to him before, but that doesn’t make him a friend. So, I don’t care for him, I don’t care for his personality. Even when I talked to him I didn’t want to talk to him, I was just being cordial. I don’t have any good feelings towards him at all. I don’t like the way he acts, I don’t like the way he carries himself, and I don’t like the way he represents the sport.”
