Is Anderson Silva angling for a rematch with UFC champ Michael Bisping?
Michael Bisping and Anderson Silva fought back in February, with the Brit winning a hard earned decision during their main event bout in England. Whether he’s angling for a rematch or not, the Spider decided to bring up the contest and make fun of Bisping on social media.
He took to Instagram about their bout.
The photo came with the following caption in both English and Portuguese:
1 – Where did this punch come from?
2 – Kick in the mouth! Where did it come from?
3 – I will run from this guy! I hope they’ll help me in this fight!
4 – I think I’m going to go to sleep and I’ll come back later, because I’m at home! It is always good to fight at home. God Save the Queen!
The day I knocked someone out and ended up losing by points. In the Queen’s land it is no different from Brazil, fighting at home has its advantages! God save the Queen!
It didn’t take too long before Bisping responded with a lengthy Instagram post of his own.
“This is only in response to @spiderandersonsilva,” Bisping wrote. “Your (sic) still whining on Instagram about the decision. Saying I ran the whole time and you knocked me out lol. First off, I backed you up the entire fight and dropped you twice, also I clearly out struck you the entire fight. You landed a cheap shot in the third which dropped me at the end of the round, not KO’d me lol. Man, your so used to everyone bowing down to you, your head is messed up. You lost! Deal with it. A true martial artist should have honour and respect in defeat as well as victory. Also they don’t take steroids, you sir are a fake!!!!!”
The controversy mentioned happened in the 3rd round of their contest. While Bisping was unwisely signaling to the referee that he lost his mouthpiece instead of defending himself, Silva landed a huge flying knee that dropped him. Silva ran and was celebrating thinking he won, but the round just ended and the fight wasn’t over. Bisping managed to recover and went on to win a decision based off three good rounds and two knockdowns he had in the contest.
Bisping went on to beat both Luke Rockhold and Dan Henderson to win and defend the UFC middleweight title. Silva, on the other hand, lost a short notice light heavyweight bout to Daniel Cormier a few months later. The long reigning former champ is currently winless in 5 contests dating back to 2012, and was also suspended 1 year for failing a drug test during that stretch.
