A welterweight bout between UFC fighters Ricardo Almeida (13-4) and Mike Pyle (20-7-1) has been reported for the upcoming UFC 128 event in New Jersey.
Several media outlets reported the news, confirming the news with sources close to the bout.
Almeida is 4-1 in his last five and bounced back from a loss in his last fight defeating TJ Grant at this months UFC 124 event in Montreal by unanimous decision. The win set him back on track after a technical submission loss to Matt Hughes at UFC 117 after the former champ used a front headlock submission to choke Almeida into unconsciousness. So far in the UFC Almeida sports a 6-4 record in two runs with the promotion.
Pyle is running with a two fight win streak after wins over John Hathaway, UFC 120 unanimous decision, and Jesse Lennox, UFC 115 technical submission (triangle choke). His record with the UFC is 3-2 but has fought against some of big names in mma under various promotions throughout his career including Jake Shields, Jon Fitch, and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
UFC 128 is expected to take place on March 19th at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.
