Mickey Gall hopes all the UFC ‘idiots’ keep calling him out: ‘I like it, I really do’
It’s no secret that Mickey Gall’s path to the Octagon came to be after the young up-and-comer took the initiative to call out CM Punk while Dana White was out “Lookin’ for A Fight.”
It’s a recipe that’s proven to work well for Gall, as he called for and received a fight against Sage Northcutt after forcing Punk to tap in a little over a minute at UFC 203 (see it). But now, it seems Gall is the one getting called out, as he tells MMA Junkie he enjoys having “idiots” say his name.
“I enjoy it,” he said. “I like hearing them. This is a good thing when everyone’s calling your name and saying things. I like it. It gives me plenty of people to fight. There’s plenty of people who want to fight me, and that’s good. I hope they keep saying my name – all the idiots, keep saying it. I like it. I really do.”
As far as which “idiots” are speaking of Mickey, he wouldn’t divulge details.
“Stop trying to pull names out of me; I’m not trying to give them the satisfaction of saying any of the idiots’ names.”
So when broached on the subject of asking for a match up for an opponent with similar experience to him inside the Octagon, Mickey says there really isn’t a whole lot to choose from.
“I have four fights,” Gall said. “Who else has four fights in the UFC? There’s not really that many people who are comparative. (Northcutt) is 8-1, so that’s close. But it doesn’t matter to me. It’s a fight. I’ll fight someone with 30 fights, 40 fights, whatever. I’d be more than happy to. I’d like to.”
You have to admire his tenacity.
Gall — 4-0 (2-0 UFC) — says he is currently healing from a massive cut on his eyebrow that required 21 stitches he suffered before he faced Punk last September. That said, he is ready and willing to take on anyone once he’s ready to get back into the swing of things.
