News of another heavyweight matchup broke on Tuesday morning as UFC heavyweights Sean McCorkle (10-1) and Christian Morecraft (6-1) were both named as opponents for the upcoming UFC Fight Night 24 event in March.
MMAFighting.com was the first to report the fight from a source close to the situation who noted that both men have agreed to the bout but no word on if the fight would make the live broadcast.
McCorkle recently appeared at this past months UFC 124 event in Montreal where he was defeated by Stefan Struve in the co-main event of the show. After some lengthy internet trash talk from McCorkle, Struve was able to secure the full mount in the first and earned the stoppage via TKO. Fans can expect more verbal jabs from McCorkle as the fight date gets closer. The loss was McCorkle’s second in the UFC after he won his debut in September by submitting Mark Hunt in 67 seconds.
Morecraft also suffered a loss to Struve in his promotional debut at UFC 117. Morecraft dominated the 6′11″ fighter in the first round bloodying the Dutch fighter, but it was Struve who would finish the fight via KO in the second round. It was Morecraft’s first professional loss and the first time an opponent has made it out of the first round with him.
UFC Fight Night 24, which has not been officially announced, is expected to take place on March 26 in Seattle, Washington. Headlining the event should be UFC light-heavyweights Tito Ortiz vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
